Marciano was certainly a p4p puncher. But like a lot of big punchers his delivery system and accuracy was a bit off because he was expending his efforts in trying to put a hole through you rather than timing you to the split second and using pinpoint accuracy to hit an exact spot. In other words, the crunching power's effect was diluted by hitting non-critical parts of the body.

 

There isn’t any difference between the top punchers Rocky hit as hard as anyone. Benton said a 165lbs man who hit properly can knock anyone out. Did you see Conn hurt Louis? It was a middleweight who hurt Toney the most.

 

When preparing for Maxim Robinson was asked,"can you hurt him?"He replied ,"I can hurt anybody,can I hurt him enough is the question?"

 

There is quite a lot of BS put about concerning Marciano,about how he targeted arms,instead of heads.Where would you sooner land your punch ,on an opponents head or his arm?

 

Pound for pound one of the greatest punchers ever. Was said he hit harder than Louis by common opponents and sparring partners. We all know how well Louis hit. Rocky’s biggest problem was accuracy. He always swung for the fences w incredible stamina but missed the mark often.

 

Walcott said he hit harder than Louis with a single punch.

Several Marciano opponents,Lastarza,Cockell,Moore, and Charles said others hit them harder . Lastarza and Cockell said the problem with Rocky was he kept it up!

Layne said Louis hit him the hardest ,and that was in an exhibition with a past it Louis!

 

Marciano KO'd both a great/HoF-level fighter in Walcott & an iron-chinned contender in Rex Layne w/ one right hand apiece.

Like BCS8 said, his main difficulty was in getting in position to land his punches cleanly, due to his physical disadvantages.

It should also be noted that he also had a heavy left hook that often got overlooked - just ask Harry Matthews.

Accurate. Common sparring partners also said Marciano hit harder…I think it’s a bit redundant as they prob hit about the same. With a lot of pop

 

Walcott was no stranger to the canvas and was 38 years old.
Layne was floored 17 times.
Mathews was a light heavy.

 

Layne was never knocked out when he met Marciano. Marciano ruined him.
Before he met Marciano he survived meetings with Walcott, Satterfield and Louis…his chin was fine till then
