I don’t like it. But they have the right to choose how they feed themselves. I hope it’s a nice retirement fund.

It´s his goal tho. Gonzales want´s a title at 118 and Donaire would be his path to relevancy again. And if he comes up short, then he will come up short vs a fellow great instead of one of the young Japanese champions.

This is one of those peak vs peak mythical fights for me that I'd have killed to see ...even at the end of their careers ...I want this bad...always feel like donaire woulda had his number.

Nonito Donaire has absolutely nothing left, he aged overnight, for the short time the Inoue rematch lasted, he still looked fast with his feet and hands, but in the fight after that, he looked completely shot, don’t think this fight is a very good idea.

Without a doubt, but let's be honest, Estrada, Cuadras, Sor Rungvisai and Gonzalez all having close fights with one another isn't necessarily a sign of greatness from all four. It just meant they were roughly evenly matched, and Roman was quite human and very beatable at 115. The fact that they've all struggled quite a bit with average opponents outside of that big four, backs that up. Sure, Roman looked good against Martinez... who was moving up on weight, and Yafai, who was utter crap. So that means nothing. So as much fun as those four were to watch against each other, I doubt any of them would fare all that well at Bantamweight and all four would probably lose to Donaire who's an ATG by any possible metric. Also, I've always thought that stylistically Donaire would have Chocolatito's number.... even now.

This, they’re definitely overrated along with Ioka. Elite fighter but not ATGs.

I hope it ends in a draw after a fun fight where neither gets too badly hurt and they both retire with their wherewithal intact. That probably won’t happen and either Choc gets sparked by a big Nonito left hook or Nonito can’t pull the trigger anymore and gets dominated and taken apart by Choc. I love both guys and I fancy Choc’s chances at beating Nishida (maybe Takei but idk about how Choc would deal with the power) but this fight seems guaranteed to make me sad about these little warriors.

Roman doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating either Nishida or Takei. A more realistic opponent for him would be Ioka on NYE, and beating even the diminished Ioka that just lost to Pumita Martinez.... is a longshot.

lol how can you really say that Chocolatito, a 4 weight champ (who’s still going for a fifth) and, for a time, the universally recognised P4P no. 1 isn’t an ATG with a straight face? Are your standards for the ATG club really that high?

That’s true but I still have a soft spot for the Nicaraguan dynamo and choose to believe (naively) that he can still pull off the impossible. Just let me live in my delusion for now.
