This is a very good tactical matchup. Two comparably sized guys who were good at countering and could punch a bit. I’m leaning towards schmeling as I don’t feel he’d walk into Quarry’s counters as many of Jerry’s opponents did but it’s a close call either way
I was thinking about which 60s era fighters I could put Schmeling up against and I thought of how cool it would be to see those two go at it. I agree with you.
I picked Schmeling via decision. More of a scientific fighter. I think he would edge it in a tactical match. I think Schmeling deserved the decision vs Sharkey and feel he would have beaten Braddock.
