So the champ taking on softer touches in a busy schedule between elite opponents is a disappointment today while others barely having 1 fight in the timespan Inoue's having 3 is cool?

I remember the boxing world praising DLH for having 5 world title fights in '95 without a single complaint, arenas were filled & his busy schedule brought more and more casuals to the screen since he was constantly in conversation, and none of the opponents were on Nery / MJ level that's on Inoue's '24 list.

And now actually having 3 opportunities to watch an ATG operate in a year over just once is not good enough for your very precious time? Sure you got your head in the game?

This is such a poor response I don't even think I want to continue the conversation.

This cynical response exemplifies just how unhealthy our once great community got, canceling any argument that's not supporting one's own.

Just so you know, tennis fans pay hundreds of bucks in early grand slam rounds just to see greats trash lower level opposition cause they recognize greatness and want to witness it live, which is why thousands of Inoue fans will open their wallets in support of a lower caliber fight after facing 5 champs in a row.

But you sure are above them in your ivory tower, undecided between illegally streaming it or watching it in BoxRec before posting 'told you so'.

    Such another poor post.

To be clear the reason your post is so poor it is has nothing to do with what I've actually said.
Just loads of emotion and hyperbole.

Complete walkover for Inoue but I'm happy for TJ. Should be one good earn he's had a long career.

It's not as bad as some make it out to be. TJ is still a top 10 guy, is a former champ, is coming off of 3 wins in Japan so he'll be well-known and should be a decent ticket-seller. TJ's getting old and has deserved his shot by climbing the WBO ranks and Inoue's earned himself an easy fight. The undercard is pretty good too. People are getting their nickers in a twist over this fight when it's really not that objectionable.

Doheny beat three or so Japanese fighters, and won three straight fights in Japan recently. Gojira ought to put him in his place.

A lot of folks in here forgetting what Undisputed even means!!! We’ve had so few of them over the last few decades that we forget to show respect to these warriors. When a boxer is Undisputed (as Inoue is), he has the rights to have a soft touch here and there, and he deserves our loyalty to watch those fights because he DID his JOB in becoming Undisputed in the first place. Same with Crawford and Usyk. Never forget this. Now carry on.

I don´t see how he is a legitimate top contender. TJ has beaten only one credible opponent since the Roman unification, which happened in 2019.
The credible opponent is Japhethlee Llamido, whom TJ stopped impressively in 2023. But no, TJ is not a top contender.

    Opening odds for TJ.
    18/1
    $19
    +1800
    5.3% "implied" chance of winning.

Didn’t champs in the past have non titles fights? Like warmup or tuneup in between title fights fights while they waited for for next title challenger?

I guess no one has them any more cos they fight so infrequently. I mean a guy like Inoue should be capable of fighting 3 times a year if not 4 but like most champs today 2 times a year seems to be the max

Looks like we'll have to wait until next year for Inoue to fight a credible opponent, assuming he ends up fighting Sam Goodman for December. Aside from Nery this is looking like another disappointing year for Inoue. A waste of his prime years, just like 2021 when he fought Dasmarinas and Dipaen.
