First off, fair question ..... he did ut usually against much bigger and or stronger fighters and Tommy was a light heavyweight ... I don't think he was strong enough t keep Sam off him.
I recall doing an exercise years ago and if I remember correctly he had fought the most linear HW champions, perhaps level with Choynski. Sharkey, Braddock and Baer wins are his level I'd say so he might have a shout with Patterson, Ingo, Charles, Walcott, Leon, Willard, Burns, Hart and Corbett.
