Who is your BOAT (best of all time)? Not the greatest, not the guy with the best resume or most accomplished, or best stats. Just the guy you believe to be the best fighter you’ve seen on film in terms of skill and athletic ability. For me, for example, I consider Manny Pacquiao as my BOAT.
Imo to be considered a best fighter they have to have been in a war and persevered through a loss, Holyfield, Frazier, Patterson, Robinson, the fact that Patterson wanted a third go at Liston, Frazier getting in the ring with Foreman for a second time after the beating he took Taking athletic ability and skill into account, probably Patterson or Holyfield, and of course Robinson avenging LaMotta with the Wilson fight in-between all in less than a month, actually yeah it's gotta be Robinson
Wow this is really difficult to answer! There are several Fighters that come to mind, but maybe I'll go with Willie Pep. The contrast of such elegant movement with absolute Beast intentions truly fascinates me. Willie doesn't get enough recognition for being such a Savage competitor, I believe. If he were somehow able to have incredible power along with his Speed and Agility, he would have murdered people in the ring. He was like a ruthless, brutal ballerina.
I was wondering how long it would take for somebody to say Roy. Henceforth, none of you are allowed to say Roy without me blowing a gasket over it. (Also I don’t want too many people just repeating the same name and clogging up the thread.)
OK? Chinchecking is so 2011. But anyway, now that we're on a good subject. Roy Jones Jr. is the BOAT (a fun term coined by Tony Ferguson that you have ripped off here).
Getting back to the topic, I consider SRR the BOAT & Greb the GOAT, which is why I rank them #1 & 2 (interchangeably) all-time. Everyone else falls short of either of these categories.
My choice is MUHAMMED ALI !! People forget Ali was banned from boxing for 3 1/2 years for purely political reasons 3 1/2 years of his prime. just imagine what he could have achieved during that time, plus his lightening fast skills wouldn't have eroded the way they did then. No one has come close, although Ray Robinson came very close
