    Is there any documentation of this? If this statement exists in a way its possible I feel like this really deserves to be documented.

    I wouldn’t want to be hit by either man. I honestly think black and white tv has a lot to do with how we perceive fighters. There is a stark difference in opinions between men before color tv and after. When u can c in greater detail the affect of Foreman’s punches it’s easier to believe he hit harder. If all the common opponents agree Liston hit harder that’s not an insult on George it just means people underrate Liston. I don’t think KO a bigger man means anything. Small men like Toney and Holyfield and Byrd amazing chins amongst giants while Wlads not so good. So the argument George knocked out bigger men means nothing. They both knocked out men w good chins though and both r top five HW punchers ever.

    I’d love footage of Sonny and George sparring to turn up one day. I wonder if any collector has confirmed such footage to exist?

    A blow-by-blow account appears in Definitely True Gym Tales, documented by Lew Eskin and based on an a muffled telephone call from Sailor Don Sauer- who heard it directly from Jack Obermayer (who called in sick that day).

    :lol::lol:

    The primary sources sound solid.

    I’ve been trying to get hold of that book for years. That’s the one you can’t find in most good bookstores....apparently.

    I might have to try my “brown paper bag” bookstore just down the road. They carry a lot of stuff not fit for the general public. :D

    Good luck Pugs. The original edition features Monzon KOing Frazier on the front cover (artwork by Stanley Weston). Apparently the only people who have ever gotten hold of that are now dead. So beware.

    This quote is from Ali's press conference before his bout with Champion George Foreman. He hadn't felt George's punch yet.

    Are there any legit quotes from Ali saying Liston hit harder after Zaire? In Thomas Hausar's book Ali listed Foreman as his most powerful opponent, Liston as the scariest, Frazier as the toughest.
