Definitely wasted talent. His skills are just cause he's a warrior and has aptitude for boxing. Doubt has was fully focused on learning. Dude wasted a good chin, fast hands, good stamina. Literally was gifted several things that make a good fighter but also cursed with gluttony.
This is a very good comparison. He would fit right in with the so-called "Lost Generation," including the very aptly named Tony Tubbs, Greg Page, Michael Dokes, etc., etc.
Well first off Ruiz won the World Heavyweight title while being obese, so he did what most Heavyweight boxers have never done, he won the World title belt, not bad for a fat boy. However that is where my defence of Ruiz ends, him entering the rematch 15 pounds heavier than when he won the title showed utter disdain for the title, and he rightly lost, ill disciplined then and now. I don't put Dempsey or Marciano at top of the heavyweight champion hierarchy, however each time they fought for or defended the title, they were fit and focused, and had trained hard (albeit Dempsey perhaps had softened after long inactivity before his final defence), that level of discipline is sadly lacking in Ruiz and others in the heavyweight division.
He’s only won the heavyweight title but whatever, pretty average accomplishment, dedicate yourself more you say. Obscene.
35-40 pounds lighter, he could really be a big deal. Just not committed enough. Certainly has talent.
Really? Fine, I will break it down for you. He started his career at 297 lbs. So much dedication! He actually showed some dedication and slimmed down to 250. He then spent majority of his career around that weight, which ended up getting him a title shot vs Parker. A fight that his fat ass almost won. What happened next? Inactivity and lots of weight gain. He didn´t earn that short notice title shot. He got lucky and credit to him, he beat the snot out of Joshua, literally. Which shows the talent that Ruiz has/had. Talent that has since been wasted. Mofo then ballooned up to 283 for the rematch. So much dedication. That damn rematch was in 2019, he has since fought twice. Just look at that dedication! Must have taken years of hard work to weigh 268lbs against Ortiz .
Jarrell Miller is paying $3.90 with Sportsbet I might get on that. Not only is Ruiz looking fat but he has been inactive and not impressive in his last couple of fights.
No doubt Ruiz blew his time at the top after Joshua I by eating his way to being an overweight pig for the rematch. Since then he has literally waddled in mediocrity, living in some sort of fantasy fighting once every couple of years and believing it to be sufficient to career goals, if he has any…?
