None of those guys last 11 rounds against the Tijuana Tornado like Cotto did in the first fight, let alone beat him. They all get the brakes beaten off of them, especially if we’re talking about the versions Crawford fought.
Spence would outright stop Margarito. Porter wins a close decision. Brook is a toss-up. Again, this is assuming Margs doesnt have plaster...but Spence stops Margs regardless
Cotto won the title off a compromised Martinez with knee problems Cotto wasn't a legit Middleweight IMO. And Canelo was significantly bigger than him and in his prime whilst Cotto was considerably past his prime. Cotto won big fights he just never beat any of the greats he fought but then again Crawford hasn't fought any great fighters either. Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo, are leagues above anyone Crawford has ever faced. Spence is a similar size to Crawford, Horn is big but limited certainly not on the same level as Canelo at Middleweight, Crawford is yet to beat Madrimov with some people believing it could be a possible upset let's see what happens. Most felt Cotto did enough vs Clottey based on the early knockdown, Ali was Cotto's last ever fight and he was considerably past it by that point. Trout is hardly a nobody he had a very close fight vs Canelo that some felt he won, he also had enough controversial decision loss to Charlo that alot of people thought he won i scored it 115-113 for Trout @CST80 scored it 116-112 for Trout. I never said Cotto necessarily has better record than Crawford i'm going to quote you what you said earlier. "And Porter, Spence, and Gamboa are no less than about on par w Cotto." That's what i was debating i feel like resume wise and achievement wise Cotto is significantly better than those 3 names. And whilst Cotto may or may not have a better record than Crawford he certainly fought much better names overall.
Head to head I dont think Cotto beats Spence or Porter. Cotto showed he can be walked down and outworked a la Margarito 1 and 2 and Porter would make Cotto extremely uncomfortable. Gamboa wouod be a toss-up hypothetical fight since they werent the same size. I stand by that statement
I don't think Porter beats Cotto but it would be an entertaining fight for sure, Margarito was a big guy almost 6 feet with a titanium chin. And as you know i'm not 100 percent sure Margarito's win over Cotto was legit. I do find it a strange coincidence that Margarito prior to the Mosley fight had 10 stoppages in his last 12 fights but after the Mosley fight never came close to having another stoppage. Spence would be interesting due to his size and power i give Cotto the slight edge due to having a better resume, but Spence would be problematic for sure it all depends how well Cotto can take his punches. I did feel Spence's power was a tad overrated i don't think he was a massive hitter like some people claimed.
And Pernell has never shared the ring with anyone like Crawford either....... WTF are getting at?........ It's funny how people try to belittle the current greats simply because they favor an older great. Crawford is an ATG period, whether you like it or not. 11 world champions have gotten an L vs him. 5 of them were undefeated going into the fight. 2 of them were top 5 p4p. Sweet P is one of my personal top 5 fighters all time, but it's comical to try to make it seem like Crawford doesn't belong in the ring with him at any weight division.
I think it's a close fight at light weight with possibly Sweet P pulling off the split decision. Crawford was a different animal at welterweight so I give him the nod there.
Margarito stopped Cotto in fight 1 and Margs had Cotto in serious danger in fight 2 before fight was stopped by ringside doctor. Cotto does NOT do well with pressure fighters who are naturally larger and both Spence and Porter were larger. Spence would maul and stop Cotto, seriously. It wouldnt be a good fight for Cotto. Porter would be closer but his work rate would trouble Cotto and I think there would be at least 2 incidental headbutts. If Gamboa and Cotto were the same size I like Gamboa
I think Spences resume is very on par with Cottos. Ya Cotto was a 4 division champion but thats only in name. He was never the man at any weight class. Maybe Welterweight for a short period of time when Mayweather retired before Cotto lost to Margarito (I know many think he was cheated). Cotto won his titles vacant. He has not major wins besides Sergio Martinez and I guess the 2nd Margarito fight and Mosley is a really good win. Cottos resume has more depth but I dont think it is so crazy to compare Cotto and Spence at welterweight. Head to head or resume wise.
