Two controversial fights and two great fighters who I think could make this into a greatly competitive match. I could see it going either way, in all honesty. Will the Real Deal get past the horns of the Atomic Bull, or will Evander face nuclear winter in the ring?
Somebody voted for McCall by KO, really? That was exactly the same version of McCall that went life and death with 45+ years old Larry Holmes and got beaten by Frank Bruno. McCall would never stand a slightest chance of KOing granite-chinned Holyfield, especially in Holy's prime. Holyfield by wide UD
Holyfield also had an extremely competitive and hard fought match against that 90s Holmes, and the McCall that got beat by Bruno was not the same man from the Lewis fight- McCall was clearly uninspired. You also have to keep in mind that Holyfield got ripped by the replacement of a replacement Bert Cooper, and got dropped by Bowe in their previous match. Holyfield had a fantastic chin, but it was nowhere near true granite- And I'm surprised that it's being called such considering the man that he's fighting in this fantasy match.
McCall was never a huge puncher by any means. And while Holyfield probably didn't have Mercer's chin he still had great, great chin - otherwise he wouldn't be able to last 24 rounds against prime Lennox Lewis without getting dropped or seriously hurt. And I think it's safe to say Lennox was few levels above McCall both in terms of power and it's delivery system (despite being 1-1 against him H2H). If old Holyfield who could fight in spurts only went 24 rounds against prime Lewis, how the hell prime Holyfield who had great work rate and stamina would get KOed by lesser boxer and puncher in McCall?
Knocked out Lewis and Akinwande, where Lewis only got knocked out otherwise when he was unfocused and didn't train, and Akinwande was never knocked out otherwise- Don't forget the footage of him landing his right hand bomb on Tyson in sparring, neither. I personally STILL see Holyfield winning, but you can't outright rule out McCall's power. I just want to make it clear that McCall doesn't have a non zero chance of winning.
Holyfield by clear UD he was at his best vs Bowe in their 2nd fight perfect in an out movement sharp combinations and probably bulked up on steroids.
Holyfield by UD, but I see it as a competitive affair. McCall had the power to trouble Holyfield, but I don't think he had the delivery system to put a sustained, efficient offense. Holyfield would probably outwork him. It would be also interesting to see how the bout would have played out in terms of physical strength, as both of them are very strong physically.
I'm kind of shcoked they never crossed paths especially since both were active for such a long period of time. Holyfield UD
Holyfield definitely wins by decision. It wasn't really much of a feat to outhustle and outbox Mccall. And I don't see Mccall being able to stop that Evander, you'd have to detach Evander from his senses to be able to do that and no one was able to in his prime, hell only Bowe was able to in his little bit past post prime and Toney in his extremely post prime. One shot at a time won't do it. It would be a very entertaining fight as Holyfield would be able to tee off on Mccall and Mccall ain't gonna go anywhere though. Fans would get their money's worth
