"yesterday i was lying today i'm telling the truth" Bob Arum 20th March 1981 is the quote i have in my head when any suit is involved in boxing. it has been and will forever be thus.
i was in agreement. but it just cost too much in comparison to other apps..also with the amount of their fights going to YT within weeks. and more pubs bars and just people in general have access to big fights on weekends. i and this is just a personal one. couldnt really warrant it. especially before christmas when you were gettign midland masters titles and youtubers. while also having to pitch in more money too see genuine fights. the whole operation in my head when i heard the pitch was that as a absolutely worldwide app. promoters worldwide wouldnt be shackled to weekends and ticket sales. when a global market meant that your 500 seat show at a theatre with localised adverts from the user. meaning a lad in Milton Keynes could watch lunchtime boxing with japanese featherwieght title fight with flora, lucazade, fray bentos ads in the corner. while a lass from Montevideo is in the cab to her apartment after working a shift as a bartender with ads for Libresse, packets of Zabala and new Claricot and Mate in a can. both watching the same fight/event as a promoter, now with a marginal worldwide audience you had the ability to pack the venue with cheaper seats. with the knowledge didnt have to battle with other promoters for certain venues on weekends, didnt have to drag a fighter abroad to save the show while also not scimping on safety with ambulances and doctor fees. but it all went to pot when you had 1.small show promoters: booking endless events 2.big promoters: using it to drown them with their own content 3.youtube boxing: which people moan about but it was nowhere near as polished until the real boxing establishment got involved...alos which influencer and youtubers are called that because they already use youtube yet will cut a deal with DAZN because they can scalp them instead. the ebb and flows is almost like Cryto and NFT's. great new creative ideas turned into a financial conmans game of pass the parcel. half the reason why i am happy with Pro box TV going to youtube. arenas are rammed. fighters don't need a domestic support. because if 50,000 brits watch Robbie Davies JR on a mid week. thats paid off the 1 day production crew already. by the end of the year. all content and interviews are a constant humming of the sport. you are laughing.
I hope someday a big network or streaming service buys out DAZN. If other promotional companies keep signing up and DAZN becomes the Mecca of boxing I could see a platform like Netflix trying to buy it the same way they did for WWE, especially since it seems they're dipping their toes into the market of live sports. A guy can dream, eh?
I don´t think it´s for sale. Sure, any such platform can be bough these days but I seriously doubt anyone has the money DAZN heads would be asking for. Segev is the CEO. They have some rather grand aspirations and are aiming for an IPO in the coming years.
I was a DAZN subscriber until they started having DAZN PPV events. Why would I pay for the base service just to have access to what I was paying to watch? If Turki consolidates boxing, I hope to see either a subscription model OR a PPV model, not a combination of both.
Definitely too many PPV´s now. I bought a few of the Saudi ones because of the reasonable price and timezone. But no way am I paying for American cards, even if the price is good.
