Only one who possibly could do it is Dempsey and I would favor Bowe over Dempsey. Joe Louis could beat him but that's in question. Any other heavy from that time gets wrecked

    Hi Fergy.
If, and a big if, Jeffries could sustain an early onslaught from Bowe, he might be able to grind him down over 15.
    stay safe buddy, chat soon.

This isn't going the way he thought it would. ;)

Riddick Bowe was pretty good, pretty big, pretty talented and hit pretty hard.

Joe Louis & Sonny Liston. Max Baer has a puncher's chance.

Beats the snot out of? That's a tall ask.

I'm not exactly a Bowe fan, but the guy had some attributes that made him very dangerous for smaller guys to deal with. He was big, could take a shellacking, hit hard and liked to mix it up. His skills are not great, but compared to guys his size from "the old days" they are better.

Your best bet is to go for a puncher and hope they crack his suspect mandible early. I don't see guys like Jeffries, Johnson or Wills doing anything much at all against Bowe except get their heads kicked in. Dempsey or Louis probably. You want accuracy as well as punching power. But if they don't mess him up in the first few rounds I don't see them getting the job done. Louis' chin is worse than Bowe's and Dempsey could gas out.

Thought it may make a wee bit of a challenge.
Didn't want to ask a silly one like beat the snot out of Lennox, Joe Frazier, prime Tyson etc.
Yes Bowe was good, big, talented, chin pretty good, but he could be found an d hit and hurt.
Must be some of the older fellas that beat him convincingly

I'd give them a better chance vs Frazier to be honest. The Golota fights are what convinced me that Bowe has the stones to stay in the fight until he wins. If he can impose his size there's not a lot of old timers that can hang in there.

I don’t regard Liston as an old-time fighter so I left him out as a possible candidate. Louis could KO him, but he was methodical.

The clear choice to me is Dempsey. He has the whirling dervish style that implies, “beating the snot out of” someone, & he has the attributes. Fast, swarming fighter with a lethal two-fisted attack. Bowe is someone I think people forget how good he was, albeit oh so briefly. He could fight inside at an extraordinary level for a big man, though his chin was not great, & his defense was horrendous. He showed me the heart of a Lion in his second fight against Andrew Golota, though. Prime Bowe would have a good shot to score a KO on Dempsey himself.

It’s far from a safe bet, but Dempsey is easily the best bet among the old-timers. Bowe was extremely hittable & in no way proved himself immune to Dempsey’s crippling power.
