The olympics are about to start and we all know the peds are going to be rampant...

In the history of the Olympics there is a lot of cases that go way back.. and syntetic testosterone was avaliable in the 30s (you can easily find the info online). And stimulants like ephedrine and others were commonly used in other sports like in the 50s, so... and, sometimes, not even viewed as peds or something (but they definitely are !).It was a different time, I came from a family of truck drivers and they used to take drugs to get by the driving days without sleeping in the 60s... and nobody seemed to see anything wrong with it.
Obviously it was used in Boxing way back then.... but not much is talked about this among us !

Now, I know in the 70s they were getting tested, Monzón was tested and it is documented that he forged the tests putting other people´s urine there in a lot of his fights...

You guys tell me... do we know when drug testing got started in Boxing ? Was Joe Louis tested ? Dempsey days ?
Did it start in the 70s ??

70s Steroids abuse was noted and caused the first paper to be written condemning it.
In the 90s Lennox signed a “non tested” fight contract, something like that @cross_trainer said it I’d say it (testing) only really became an inconvenience by the 2000s.
The earliest confirmed user I can think of is Bob Hazelton.

Thank you. So, I am guessing in the 50s and maybe 60s there was no drug testing....

Everything before the 90s wouldn’t have had any effective testing IMO.
The LATE 50s or the 60s after the Rome Olympics is when PED use started in athletics to my knowledge.

But I was reading that in the 52 olympics it was found indications that many athletes were using some form of drugs to compete. In the Olympic village many syringes were found in 1952...

Let me add something to what I said, this is me basing it off what I know about the American PED scene.
The Russian weightlifters inspired the first Test and Dbol usage to my knowledge.
America still lost the weightlifting contest in Rome but the findings I believe kicked off usage everywhere.
It’s possible Russia has been using steroids longer at the least before Rome so 52 is a possible date IMO.

The Soviets were using testosterone in 1952 ! And syntetic testosterone was "invented" in East Europe (Yugoslavia) way back in the 30s !

I’m aware of the invention of TEST it was 1934-1935 from memory but they didn’t use it for athletic advantage till a bit later.

I read the PDF part where Yugoslavia is mentioned.
Let me tell you, the whole "Warsaw Pact" used steroids to the maximum, I think. Bulgarian weightlifters and Romanian gymnasts are part of those stories.
Worse things than anabolic steroids have been used.
The girl gymnasts were given means to start getting menstrual cycles later (and these are certainly not anabolic steroids).
But I don't understand (and it's not my intention to "defend my own") where Yugoslavia in the 30s fits in there.
Which Yugoslav athlete in the 1930s was so successful?

Drug testing in Boxing didn't actually become seriously 'consistent' until the early - mid 2000's, though it obviously existed and was used beforehand.

The unpopular implication of this is that many Classic favourites from the 80s to the late 90s were likely on PEDs. Jones Jr is one who was legitimately caught out and had basically no consequences whatsoever.
