Im dissapointed by Leon tonight. Wtf was that. He had some decent grappling moments, but his clearest path to victory was always going to be in the stand up and he froze.
That's always been his M.o. he's a very cerebral fighter who fights in spots and wins fights in key moments or down the stretch. Either he's slowing down or that approach finally caught up with him. I lean more towards the latter.
I meant he fights in spots and sometimes relative to his opponents level. I think he has a high fight IQ, but thinks too much. He definitely should have been more aggressive. I think Belal would have folded.
Hard for me to say he has a high fight IQ, he made way too many obvious and blatant strategic mistakes. To me hes a fighter that wants too much time and too much space to operate, and is waiting on openings and opportunities, instead of deploying an actual developed strategy/gameplan. So the offensive pressure freezes him a bit. Just dissapointed, he had all the tools to win tonight.
They should give Leon the rematch, I definitely think he could’ve done much better than what he did tonight
