    Pinoy boxing going down hill.Japanese are on a trend and consistently producing high calibre boxers.

    Kosei Tanaka becomes 4 division champion alongside Ioka and Inoue. Junto makes a statement by beating the champ Alexandro in his first weight class moving up. And Takuma Inoue beats a former champ in emphatic fashion.

    Japan could be heading to another really good year. This has to be the best era for Japanese boxing by far.

    Sadly that seems to be the case for Pinoy boxing. Ancajas tried but failed.

    I’m sure Filipino boxing will rise to the occasion eventually.

    Hahaha i am actually over the moon MP Sean Baboons promotion losing and have no more filo boxers to promote.Gibbons is a cancer.Ancajas was always trash.He is a natural right hander converted southpaw as you can see all the big punches he landed were all right hands.Just looks awkward as a Southy.Can’t land the left to save his career.Dunno who told him he should be a southpaw.

    Kazuto Ioka and Ginjiro Shigeoka have now lost their championship titles. I wonder if we'll see them regain a title or if we'll see more Japanese fighters become champion within this year.

    I can’t see Ioka regaining a title at his age as much as I love him. Ginjiro is very young though and I do hope he comes back into title contention soon. I really hope this loss will be similar to Kenshiro’s loss to Yabuki, something to recover and learn from (possibly avenge even), rather than a career-altering loss. I can see Iwata and Rikiishi grabbing titles soon though.

    Definitely not the end of Ginjiro, he'll most likely bounce back again much like Kosei Tanaka did when he regained a title after his loss to Ioka. Tenshin Nasukawa seems like he has potential to also grab a title at some point as well.

    I remain unconvinced by Tenshin but he certainly improved greatly in his last fight so he might prove me wrong. I think he would lose to any of the 118 champs but Tenshin vs Takei would be an interesting ex-kickboxer vs ex-kickboxer match-up at least.

    This year has definitely shifted for Japan, although still plentiful with champs mostly at the lower weight. Yudai Shigeoka losing to Melvin Jerusalem, Seiya Tsutsumi becoming WBA champ in recess, Kazuto Ioka unable to avenge his loss, Ginjiro Shigeoka with a career ending injury and now Kosei Tanaka forced into retirement.

    Junto Nakatani 30–0 (23 KO) WBC Champ
    Yoshiki Takei 11–0 (9 KO) WBO Champ
    Ryosuke Nishida 10–0 (2 KO) IBF Champ
    Kenshiro Teraji 25–1 (16 KO) WBA, WBO Champ
    Masamichi Yabuki 18–4 (17 KO) IBF Champ

    Kenshiro Teraji now dethroned after losing to Ricardo Sandoval while Kyosuke Takami now becomes WBA Light Flyweight champ. Although one of Japan's top fighter just lost they still reign supreme in the lower weights with the number of champions.

    Japan just had their biggest boxing event take place between their best fighters and it certainly made it worth the wait. Inoue still remains king and undisputed while Nakatani showed that he’s without a doubt an elite level fighter who just came up short against an ATG.

    Current Japanese champions of 2026 now are:

    Ryūsei Matsumoto - WBA (Regular) Strawweight
    Shokichi Iwata - WBC Light Flyweight
    Masamichi Yabuki - IBF Flyweight
    Seiya Tsutsumi - WBA Bantamweight
    Takuma Inoue - WBC Bantamweight
    Naoya Inoue - Undisputed Super Bantamweight

    I'd really like to see Tenshin win a title in boxing and then go back to kickboxing if that's what he decides. It's a special feat to win a major championship in two different combat sports, and he has a realistic chance to do it. Just needs a little more experience and refining, and it's very possible.
