Terence Crawford vs Pernell Whitaker

He’d not made WW in over 3 years, and he looked weak.

Unfortunately, a certain group of people have greatly upset you by being disrespectful towards Terence. And due to that, it’s made you both very aggressive, and very defensive. To the point where you’re not able to have an objective debate.

You have attacked my posts, despite me repeatedly saying how highly that I rate Terence.

You’ve also admitted that you weren’t sure if you’d replied to the right person.

So take a step back, and we can debate whatever topic that you want regarding his career.

There’s no need for you to behave like you’re currently behaving.

Terence is a great fighter, and I’ll happily debate his career with you.

I am personally hoping to see the Canelo fight.


I will now do you the courtesy of replying to your points:

When you have studied the sport for as long as I have, you know when a fighter is great.

Terence is a great fighter.

He is immensely gifted. So much so, that I’ve literally said that I believe that he could have beaten members of the ‘Fab Four’

He certainly passes the eye test.

I have also claimed on previous threads, that I believe that he could have beaten Floyd.


However, like I’ve already told you, he hasn’t beaten any prime ATG fighters.

Now due to you being very defensive, you think that I’m criticising him. Yet I’m not. I’m just stating facts.


Now this is not a thread asking us all where we rank Terence Crawford in history.

It isn’t a thread asking how great do we think he is.

It is a thread looking at a hypothetical fight between him and the great Pernell Whittaker.


Now despite him being a great fighter, I am absolutely going to note that he hasn’t fought or beaten any prime ATG fighters, when there’s fans who believe that he’d have beaten Whittaker with absolute ease.

I am absolutely going to do that. And that is not to try and discredit him. No. It is simply to bring some reality and objectivity to the debate.

I personally don’t think that Ricky Burns will be, but it would be nice to see it. I’ve followed his career.


However, I said that he hasn’t beaten any prime ATG or HOF fighters.

The 6 names mentioned aren’t ATG fighters who were in their prime.

I know all about fighters having medicals.

Did Mike Tyson not pass stringent medicals to fight Danny Williams and Kevin McBride?

It doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a mere shell of the once great fighter that he’d been years earlier.


So what if Kell said that he was in incredible shape?

I can give you quotes from Roy Jones saying that he was now back to his best, as his body had now readjusted back to LHW.

That was after 3 consecutive losses.

Kell hadn’t fought at WW in over 3 years, and he looked shot.

I can literally post you an interview with his long time trainer, Dom Ingle if you want, where he says that in his honest opinion, fighting at WW at that stage of his career, after 3 years of fighting at JMW, greatly affected his punch resistance. I can post it for you. He said that Kell was hit much harder by GGG and Spence, but he couldn’t take Crawford’s shots because of how dehydrated that he was.

The irony here is staggering.

However, he has done nothing in his career for anyone to believe that he’d have beaten Pernell Whitaker with ease.

Thurman had this AMAZING prime that went from year 28 to year 29, where his best wins over Porter and Danny happened, then had an injury and surgery and was washed up at 31 years of age.
