Roy Jones is a helluva guy. I always liked the message he was sending. Good dude, great motivator. Can get your blood pumping like the theme song from Rocky!

Why Hagler ? I never heard anything bad about him, but any story in particular that made you pick him ?

Not anything in particular, no. But now that you mention it, his loyalty to the Petronelli brothers. Around 1977 (Iirc) Don King was trying to take him away from them, even ''negotiating'' with Marvin's mother, but he basically told Don King to **** off and that he would get where he wanted with his original trainers alongside him, even if the path there would be harder due to his comperative lack of connections.

I also once read a comment about him being someone's neighbour, and being descibed as something along the lines of ''the most polite angry man in the world'', which I find pretty sweet.

I've heard quite a few stories about Ezz not being the nicest guy in the world, if not down ight abusive.

I would put Jack Dempsey up there. He seemed really grateful for what fortune dealt him. Just don't try to rob anyone near him.

For being practically deified, Ali was super cool when I met him.

I liked John David Jackson a lot, too. He was very giving with his time.

Really ? He seemed like one of the nicest sports of his era. Do go on.

From what I recall (granted it’s been years since I last read in depth on Patterson) it was when he was a young kid, and nonviolent stuff like smoking cigarettes and that sort of thing. Not like Foreman and Tyson who both used to mug people in their youth.

Joe Frazier should be the first name on everyone’s lips.
