We have a flurry of names that have been attached to what could possibly be his last couple/few fights. Names that he called for (Canelo/Charlo), the public threw in the pot (Tank/Haney), and/or fighters who tried to attach themselves to his legacy (Teofimo/Boots). We know that Turki has sent official offers to Canelo, Boots, and Vergil Ortiz. With 2 of those names having fights coming up and one fighter being in a lower division and his camp recently saying that he was going to focus on getting the belts at 147lbs....(which would be the 3rd time he's walked away from a Crawford fight opportunity), where does Crawford go from here. He stated he would like to fight one more time this calendar year: -Fundora is apparently tied to Spence. -Tszyu, is he healthy enough to fight this year? -I didn't hear anything about it, but was there a rematch clause? -Is Charlo going to get off the couch and attempt to get in the ring or just simply talk shyt to Crawford through social media? Personally, I would love for him to see Charlo. It gives him an opportunity to become a 4x Lineal Champion. What I do love is that Crawford gets in the ring with fighters young, talented, & hungry enough to possibly defeat him at the end of his career. Unlike what we saw of Floyd Mayweather finishing out his career with Berto and a fighter who had ZERO professional (or amateur) boxing matches in McGregor.
Is Fundora-Spence happenin' tho? I read somewhere it was discussed in september months ago but by now nothin' has materialized.
I hope he keeps on fighting people his own size. It was a good fight he won fair and square. Fight Tszyu next I hope
To tell you the truth, I think Spence is trying to slide out of the sport quietly, but as long as Crawford is visible, he'll be questioned about his next appearance in the ring. He seems to have more energy in trying to talk about promoting than he does competing. Look at how comfortable he was answering questions regarding Frank Martin before the Tank Davis fight. But ask him about moving up and competing for a title and he goes back to the drunk sounding speech, especially if you asking him about a Crawford rematch. Neither him nor Fundora are eager to see Crawford and their camps aren't demanding an opportunity to see him either. I heard the date for Fundora/Spence was moved back to November, possibly. But that was weeks ago. There's no marketing supporting them actually having the papers signed, so who knows
Tszyu is going to have to try and get another title if he's going to throw his name out there again for a Crawford title. I think it's a long shot without it being that he was elevated to champion, he's not an American known name, & he lost his title in his first defense. Crawford is shooting for legacy fights. Even a fight vs Boots would make more sense for him being that Boots is being projected to be a future big name for the sport in America. He would be to Crawford what Canelo was to Floyd.
Also, another question that pops my mind is... how many fights has he left? Mf is 37 this year, be undisputed at 154 and then face Canelo? What is his exactly his plan if things will go according to him? Btw fighting all the people listed in OP would be good but honestly I'm not interested in Spence rematch (unless guy proves what he has on beatin' Fundora) or Boots sincre dude ducked him back then (unless he moves up in weight and wins a tidal.) Unless they don't have these prerequisites, they're unnecessary roadblocks to Bud road for the HoF path.
