I take issue with the title of this thread. Jared wasn't 'just another hype job'. He was, in fact, the All American Hype Job carrying the hopes of a nation trying to reclaim its former glory as a Heavyweight boxing powerhouse. Sure, he got his arse beat by Richard Torrez every time he faced him but that doesn't mean Jared wasn't destined to rule the Heavyweight roost in the professional ranks.

Spare a thought also for the lads at The Ring magazine. They will be frantically trying to work out which of their countrymen to bestow 'future H/W great' status upon. Not to mention having to pulp a lot of imminent release copies of The Ring with Jared's beaming face on the cover. Their immediate priority will be to parachute another American Big Boy into the top 10 contenders list.

He has no killer instinct, no survival instinct, extremely mediocre defense, and a so-so chin.

    Less flash, more substance required.

He was a bloody big hype job, but he showed guts in his first loss.

I don't know anyone they can build up now. It's really thin on the ground. Does Jermain Franklin get a push? Or Michael Hunter again? Maybe they import some talent from abroad and call them American. It's so barren it's embarassing.

All he needs now is Ruiz`s big tiddies and Conor Benn`s breakfast plan for the month.

Looks the part always comes in good shape he showed heart to keep getting up but lacks the tough stuff that even guys like Andy Ruiz and Jarrell Miller have. If you can't take the punishment inside that ring you will never be a champion especially at heavyweight. Toughness has a lot to do with it that is why a guy as flawed as Wilder was able to be a top heavyweight because he was hard as nails. Anderson simply is not built for it.

No, he's a legit 6'4. I've met him multiple times. I'm 6'1 on a good day and he's notably taller.

Why 3 years? He says he wants to beat Mike Tyson's record. The clock is ticking. Put him against Bakole next, let's see if he got the goods or is, as expected, yet another British hypejob who didn't even wait until his 3rd pro fight before being hyped to hell.

Does he? Or he is another Edgar Berlanga? Or Michael Moorer who padded his record to 25 wins, zero losses, 25 KO's at one point? Two of his first pro fights went the distance. My bet he is just another Edgar Berlanga who claims to have power but only against tomato cans.

Based on what? Seems the same people dismissing Anderson as a hypejob are also propping up Moses like he's the same Moses that parted the seas. I'd like to see Moses, if he's serious about breaking Mike Tyson's record, fight Bakole next. Or Agit Kabayel. Or any low top 10 heavweight. He's not going to get a crack at the title without going up the ladder, and the clock is ticking to beat Tyson's record. Or is it people are afraid he's not actually the goods? You wanna hype a hypejob up from when he didn't even have 4 fights under his belt, well then he gotta walk the walk.

Moorer would have destroyed Anderson, he was very good at light heavy and a far better heavyweight than Anderson is.

Just have a round robin with Anderson, Miller, Ruiz, and I guess Hunter. I know that's my go to answer for a lot of things, but I think it would work to bring some excitement for US heavyweights.

But I'm not going to sugar coat it.... The heavyweight scene in the US is not looking good right now. I'm looking at the top 100 US heavyweights on boxrec and unless there is some needle in that overweight haystack, its pretty atrocious.
