What if it was Larry Holmes instead of George Foreman against Tommy Morrison in June 1993. How do you think the fight would have unfolded? Would The Duke take revenge for "I'm not Tommy Morrison" bit Holmes pulled in the Mercer fight? Or would The Easton Assassin, even at 44, prove too much for him?

I think Tommy could KO him at that stage but it depends.

If I'm not mistaken, Holmes and Foreman were born in the same year. The fight would not end with Morrison knocking out Holmes!
Rather, I see that Holmes is an experienced HW ATG TOP 5 "doctor", who would find a way to win.

Based on the title I selected Holmes by KO but then when I read the opening post I saw that it was for 1993. At that point Morrison might have stopped him.

I did the same. My actual pick would be Holmes easy decision.

You know what, I thought this was Mercer version Holmes vs. Foreman version Tommy, that I would easily pick Holmes. 1993 of both, hell I'd still pick Holmes, he beat Foreman but.........I'm pretty sure that's the Tommy that went life and death with Joe Hipp. No way would he beat Holmes IMO.

I don’t know. Holmes’ main strategy by this point was hanging off the ropes & countering to support a set of legs that couldn’t move the way they used to. I suspect Morrison flattens him after a few rounds of Holmes making him look foolish.

Mercer couldn't flatten that same Holmes

I didn’t say he couldn’t but he was never going to blast Holmes out like Morrison might.

The fact that Holmes was only iced once, I think it would be more likely than not that Morrison wouldn't be able to duplicate that. Then again, it's a couple years later and once you're over a certain age it's possible. But then Holmes surviving Mccall years after that leads me to believe he's durable enough and crafty enough to eek a decision out. I don't think Holmes on the ropes is really a bad tactic for him (except against Tyson)

Just went with Holmes on the poll, without reading the description, but Morrison beats Old Holmes, Mercer couldn’t beat him because he has flat and predictable feet and he was able to outjab him because he could predict his movement and he was more stationary, Morrison would be able to close the distance quicker and outwork and outhustle Old Holmes by a competitive decision.
