I don't hate him but it's obvious that the money, the spotlight at the fame is going to his head. It happens to most big name athletes. Still I'm a fan but gotta call a spade a spade.
I don't think that him struggling with a 154lber means he isn't deserving of a Canelo fight. He just beat a quality fighter, if anything I think it shows that he's more deserving. The whole idea that he needed to dominate a guy like that to even be mentioned in the same breath as Canelo is dumb. He won, yeah it was close, but he won. So what? You're not gonna dominate a guy like Madrimov. Most of us knew going in that this was going to be close.
OK so now we have some clarity on what happened. This content is protected So it seems as if Turki texted Canelo and asked him to meet today in Los Angeles. And Canelo basically didn't give him the time of day. he said he's 100% focused on his fight with Berlanga and he couldn't meet with him to talk about the Crawford fight. Maybe Turki felt a certain way about that, feeling that Canelo dissed him because he wouldn't meet with him.
I still think there is a chance that Canelo and Turki are employing tactics here. Or maybe not. Anyway, this was my take before learning of his Tweet earlier today This content is protected
I think that it could still happen, if Canelo beats Berlanga and then Turki reaches out they can discuss it. But I think Canelo has a point that he's focused on Berlanga now and promoting this and it would be premature to discuss Crawford now as he's preparing for Berlanga. I don't think Canelo meant any disrespect to His Excellency but that he just wasn't ready to discuss that yet. But maybe His Excellency felt disrespected that Canelo wouldn't make time to meet him.
Just a longer clip with Canelo explaining what happened. This content is protected He basically said he didn't like the way Turki tried to approach him about the Crawford fight now but he didn't mean no disrespect. I just think it's important to point out that it's not Canelo who's trying to drag Crawford up two weight classes to make this fight, as some posters on here have suggested. I'm glad though that Canelo clarified this and explained what happened and gave his true thoughts about it. Canelo did say he respects Turki and left the door open for working with him in the future, but now he's focused on Berlanga and not ready to talk about that. Which I think we can all respect because he is only a month away from his fight. He also said that Teofimo deserves the Crawford fight more than him, a guy two weight classes below Bud now. The irony. Imagine if Bud fought Teofimo next, would we get the same complaints about the weight difference that we're getting talking about Canelo Crawford? But now that we have this statement from Canelo, lets stop acting like Canelo is pushing to fight Crawford. He's made it clear that he doesn't want it or need it, but if the money's right, if there's enough demand for it, he probably would take it. I actually wonder if maybe it's better to actually let Canelo Crawford "marinate" for a while, anotherwords give it another year or two, and maybe Bud will continue to put on weight and be closer in weight to Canelo the longer it takes to get made. Because I don't think Canelo is going to move up to 175 again, he'll probably stay at 168 for the rest of his career, whereas Bud could possibly fill out at 154 and maybe even move up to 160 at one point, and at that point maybe it would make more sense. And to those who say Crawford is almost 37 and he'll be closer to 40 in another year or two, well yeah but Canelo ain't no spring chicken either, and from the poll I did about who is closer to their Prime Canelo or Crawford, that's a 50%/50% poll right now. So it's unclear who benefits more, Canelo or Crawford on when it could happen. All I know is that many posters on this forum have stated that they think that Canelo is no longer in his prime or hasn't been for many years, and those same people I don't think ever said that about Crawford. But I'm a little conflicted over this, a part of me thinks that it's possible that maybe Crawford could start declining over the next few years even more than Canelo, despite the fact that maybe Canelo has slowed down a little, and maybe we haven't seen that from Bud yet, but Canelo is built like a tank and probably could fight for many years left before we see a real decline, whereas with Bud I'm not so sure. So maybe in a way if might be smart for Bud to take this fight sooner rather than later. I don't know, what do ya'll think. @Rumsfeld
Ive been preaching at you for ages what a fraud & coward Canelo really is. Now at long last youre starting to realize I was right. He just took the blueprint from Floyd & ran with it. Both of them have been scamming the fans for years. The State Commission turns a blind eye Vegas boxing assist them too . Im sorry if you don't like it but to me personally BOTH of them have robbed boxing fans blind I have no respect for them whatsoever. How can you be a fan of someone that robs you & laughs at you behind your back The only thing I'm glad about is neither of those panty waisted divas ever made one penny out of me.
Nah that kinda is a diva move. Turki is the most important figure in boxing right now every other fighter would cut off their pinky finger to talk business with the man and Canelo just blows him off? Can't even reschedule? He's acting like Winnie Cooper
