An intriguing one. Much depends on whether Bowe can get inside often enough to nullify Tyson's speed and wear him down. Or whether Tyson's faster punching penetrates Bowe's leaky defence sufficiently to hurt him thus causing a stoppage. I have a strong feeling that the latter would apply just as long as we're talking the 1988 Tyson. Tyson via middle round ko or tko.
Bowe is not going to box Tyson behind a jab , he will brawl ..............you dont brawl with Tyson, too fast, to elusive and hits way to hard wwith both fists...........outcome similar to the Ruddock fights.
It is really funny how Bowe who dominated prime Holyfield, and is infinitely more proven, is thought to be inferior than Mike overhyped Tyson whose best competition victory is probably a fat ass Tony Tubbs
More proven in what way ? Bowe got a controversial decision over a past it Tubbs who Tyson poleaxed in 2. Bowe struggled with a past it Biggs who Tyson dominated. Bowe got baptized by Golota twice who a past it Tyson made quit just after 2 rounds. Tyson fought big punchers like Ruddock, Bruno. Bowe never fought any of the notable big punchers of his era. Bowe has the best single win over Holyfield but overall Tyson had a much better career and beat alot more notable names. Bowe also beat a 205 pound Holyfield whilst Tyson fought a juiced up Holyfield who weighed 215-218 pounds. Holyfield had Hepatitis vs Bowe in their 3rd fight and was clearly way under par and still almost knocked out Bowe. A fresher version of Holyfield would've beaten that version of Bowe and more than likely would've won the trilogy 2-1.
Bowe was talented. Big and strong with a long reach and pretty good power. He lacked seriousness, dedication and character. He could have become great if he weren't such a flake.
Can I get clarification on which Tyson this is, precisely? It says pre-prison, but there is a noticeable gap in performance between 86-88 Tyson & 90-91 Tyson. Which is this? If it’s prime Tyson, then certainly I pick him, & by hard knockout. If it’s prime Bowe against the Tyson who battled Ruddock, I’d have to think about it.
As good as Bowe was, he was pretty vulnerable on the inside. I think that Tyson has him, but it'd still be tight.
I’d like to have seen this in the 90s instead. Tyson was more vulnerable then. It would be a very chaotic bout.
Triangle theory doesn't work in boxing bruh, how long have you been followin' the sport? Few days or sumthing?
Bowe had a very goofy prime and he was completely inconsistent (many people say he had only one prime fight which is against Evander). But Mike never beat a competition anywhere as good as prime Holyfield. It doesn't matter how many notable wins Tyson has, and how consistent he was compared to Bowe as long as his competition was not more than mid. I would easily rather beat a prome all time great twice than solidly dominating an era with mid tiers
It was actually dinamicpuncher who used a triangle theory and not me. Bowe simply beat much much better competition in prime Holyfield
