Canelo doesn't need Turki so if he doesn't want to fight under his watch then let him be, no need to go off on 1.
Everything has changed since Bivol. Before Bivol he fought every belt holder one after the other. He fought Golvokin and Jacobs when they were belt holders. He fought Trout, Lara, Mayweather etc. Since Bivol he hasn't once fought the best opponent. Before Bivol he would consistently fight the best opponent.
FYI he's been Undisputed Champion. There were no more belt holders to fight. I agree that he should have fought Benavidez, that's a valid criticism. But outside of that, who else could he have fought that he didn't? He tried to make the rematch with Bivol at 175, Bivol said no, Bivol said he would only fight him at 168. Should Canelo have accepted that, probably, but it's not like he didn't try to make that rematch at 175. DAZN wanted to make the GGG trilogy, you can't blame him for making that fight. Even at 40, many still thought even an older GGG was still a tough fight. Not his fault GGG didn't come to fight. Since then he's fought 3 mandatories with one voluntary defense against an Undisputed Champion. I get your point about Benavidez, and I agree about that. But outside of Benavidez, it's hard to criticize who he's fought. Holding as many belts as he does, he has mandatories and he's fought them.
Like I said, everything has changed. Before Bivol he sought out the best and fought them. Since Bivol he hasn't. The best 3 SMW challengers for the past year or so we're Benavidez, Morrell and Mbilli and he hasn't faced any of those. Instead the people he's facing sit in the lower half of the top ten. Before Bivol he consistently fought the best, since then he hasn't.
Turki is a big casual and doesn't seem like an intelligent guy, that's why Tank or Inoue didn't want anything with him, he's probably been offering Inoue big money for going up to fight Enis or Tank a fight with Crawford. That's why he attracted most heavyweights, I mean if you are 250lb you are not fighting anyone in any other division.
this. this saudi nerd aint used to being denied, and canelo dont need anyone to make a buck. now turkey is pouting on a world stage. i want to see canelo fight the best opposition too, but calling him a cherry picker, with his resume, is asinine. theres been some real smoke in between cherries. you dont become undisputed and unified in multiple divisions on a diet of cherries.
plenty of fighters who have never even attempted such an ambitious run, let alone come close to it. actually, most fighters, now that i think about it. so, asinine it remains.
He holds all the belts(until recently) and has been fighting mandatories so the only way to fight other belt holders is to move up. The only reason we're mad at Canelo is because he hasn't fought Benavidez.
I don't understand why I have to keep repeating it, he hasn't only fought mandatories, he's vacated one of his belts because he won't fight that mandatory. Before Bivol he fought the best available. Since Bivol he hasn't fought the best available.
