Remember when you (and a couple others) claimed Canelo beat the #1 LtHW in Kov?

If TC just decided to not cut weight, then his training camp was incomplete.

That's what I was thinking, Bud would be around 172 pounds and Canelo would be close to 190,,,Canelo would walk through him.

We don't know how much Canelo rehydrates to at this stage in his career. Remember the same argument was made when Canelo was fighting at 154, that he really should be fighting at higher weights because he rehydrates so much. Well he moved up two weight classes over time and presumably wouldn't be rehydrating as much now.
The difference is that Canelo was known to gas and have stamina problems. Which was why, if you remember, pre-Bivol I said that it would not be smart for him to put on extra weight which would only slow him down. Canelo made the tactical mistake in my view of weighing in close to 175 instead of just doing his normal 168 camp which caused him to fatigue. I think that the normal 168-lb Canelo could have done better against 175-lb Bivol without carrying as much weight.

Bud does not have the kind of stamina problems Canelo has so it's a very different situation. But to your point, I would not advise Bud to put on much weight if he fought Canelo at 168-lb. What we learned is that Bud rehydrates 15 lbs after weighing in so that gives him a functional weight in the realm of SMW. So anotherwords, he shouldn't do what Canelo did against Bivol, which was put on weight to weigh-in 7 lbs more than he normally does. But, even if Bud did to that, and came in a little flabby, which I woudln't advise, he still wouldn't be as affected by additional weight as Canelo was against Bivol because he's better conditioned to maintain a high work rate than Canelo is. Anotherwords, putting on weight like Canelo did against Bivol wouldn't affect Bud as much, but to your point I would still advise against it.

I understand that there is no concrete data but I think we can infer about Canelo's walk in weight on fight night from some data points.

    1. We had that Khan claims that I mentioned although I think I think Khan was exaggerating because Canelo would have put on 32lbs over night for a 155lb fight if he walked in at 187lbs the night after.

    2. Canelo has mentioned recently that he like to walk into the fight at somewhere between 180 - 185lbs no matter that weight class because he feels as though that is is optimal weight for him at this stage career. I seen this video on youtube but I can't seem to find it.

    3. I remember on the Bivol fight, they asked Bivol what weight he walks into his fights at and he said 183-184lbs and therefore Bivol claiming that there is virtually no weight difference between him and Canelo because of that. This was pre-fight I believe, and I think for that fight canelo looked about good 5-10lbs heavier than usual (like 190-195lbs) ish. Frankly I though he looked much heavier than Bivol weight wise, who walks in at 184lbs.

    4. Just from visual perspective, I think we can also guesstimate around 185lbs for Canelo, dude would make a better Wolverine that Hugh Jackman with his stature and proportions.

I much rather see Bud vs Boots than against Bud vs Canelo. Same reasons as to why I dont want to see Inoue vs Tank even though they are listed as 5'5 with 67 inch reach. Canelo can do whatever he is currently doing which seems to be a farewell tour collecting bags before he rides into the sunset.

What Bud has going for him is Canelo couldn't stop Charlo and Munguia both ex 154ers. If they can go the distance then so can Bud. And if he can do that he can win on points. And Canelo knows that much better than all his fans do. Thats why he won't fight Bud even for the 150 mil offered by Turki.

Turki didn't offer 150 million, he said he made a reasonable offer according to what he thought the value of the fight was.

Charlo pretty much gave up and stopped engaging, everyone saw that.

To compare Munguia who started at 147 at the age of 16 and classify him as a 154lbs is ludicrous. Canelo started at 147 and lot of his rise up in the game was in that weight class but he would have to cut off both of his legs to make 147 now. Munguia once he started to hit his 20's needed to move up. People were calling him weight bully at 160lbs and he was passing out on the scales. Dude probably weighed in more than Canelo for their fight. Additionally Munguia is known for his chin and he was getting buzzed and knocked down for the first time in his career vs Canelo. Some people claiming that Canelo carried him but I am not one of them. To compare Crawford started at 135.

Listen I dont want to defend Canelo here like you guys are making me, I am not a big fan of his, but I do think we need to be objective here. Canelo should fight David and Bud should fight Boots. Those are the matchups that people want to see and matchups that make sense.

It's a shame in a way because I would love to see Crawford get pulverised but its not a sensible fight

You could have answered that yourself... Who did YOU think was the top ltHW was when he fought Kov? Show your balls...answer that.
