If promoted properly he could get close to that on PPV upside but no one will guarantee him that amount. It makes him look bad but doubt he cares right now.

“He won't get what he wants. He will duck Benavidez or fight him on Turkis terms.”

At this point in his career he’s nothing more than a gunslinger wearing the proverbial Ned Kelly armour who’s naming his price.

Canelo is so popular with Mexicans who will flock to his fights no matter who he fights, must wonder does he care about Mexican Independence day? Looks like he wants to show he is more famous than UFC (in Mexico) by scheduling date to take from UFC and Turki Al-Sheikh. Though MMA fans are mostly not the same... though boxing in Mexico the fans of MMA and Pro Wrestling are mostly the same and boxing is number 1.

Does anyone REALLY believe that Canelo isn't ducking Benavidez????? As my old coach used to say "Its as plain as a pike staff Canelo is scared of losing AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!like he did when Dmitry Bivol cleaned his clock & took his soul

Is Canelo REALLY that popular with ALL the great Mexican fight fans ?? They haven't forgiven him for the way he blatantly ducked, then robbed GGG twice??? I seem to remember the guys in the gym saying "Mexicans FIGHT!!! They don't run & hide like cowards Canelo is obviously a fake Mexican & named him El Pollo Rojo"

    1. Why on earth would they do that?

    2. There would be no guarantee that Canelo would fight the winner.

    3. Benavidas has already been his number 1 challenger.

Canelo is cashing out. He used to chase dangerous fights and new goals, now he is set and simply goes from optimal payday to optimal payday. Benavidez is risk, but one that comes with a big payday. So naturally Canelo is simply waiting for the best offer.
This is literally how Floyd and Manny dealt with each other for years.

I believe the Benavidez fight will happen in 2025.

He underestimate Bivol and paid the price for it by taking a fat L that he thought his judges would bail him out on.

A Canelo hater that doesn't want to see Bene and Craw go at it. Aren't they supposed to be these brave boxers?

I don’t mind Canelo ducking Crawford. Why? He can turn around and say, the reward on the table is too much in Crawford’s favour. Canelo can even use the example of beating Khan as an example. Beating Khan doesn’t add to Canelo’s legacy and a win against Crawford carries too many caveats.

As for Benavidez, he is trying to swerve and marinate it. Most of all, I think he is trying to bide time until Benavidez is a shell at 168, and then probably try to pull some rehydration clause in to the mix also.
