And had been floored and beaten by Charles in the fight before that, and beaten by Layne in the fight before that. He didn't look good in either of those fights. He looked good against Marciano because Marciano was a stylistic foil for him.
No he didn't, he beat both convincingly Against Holmes.116-112 ,116-112 ,117-111. Foreman,117-110,116-111,115-112. Marciano was behind against Walcott. 4-7,4-8,5-7.
Yeah, so conincingly that Foreman rocked him and Holyfoeld couldn't hurt him. Same goes for old Holmes, and both Foreman and Holmes were over 40, Foreman was 42 Holmes 43 while Walcott was 38 and had no layoff unlike Foreman and Holmes.
And won 10 fights before those 4, and he won 2 of 4, he wasn't past prime but you forgot to say what happened before those 4.
Walcott was demonstrably past his prime for Marciano but really got up for the fight when it happened. Why did Marciano struggle, & why did he win? There was a little from column A & a little from column B at work IMO.
Because Marciano suited Walcott's strengths until Jersey Joe began to slow down. Walcott looked bad against Layne ,who was an inferior version of Marciano.
People bring up Holyfield-Qawi to detract from Holyfield, but they NEVER mention anything about the rematch one year later, when Holyfield wasn't quite so unseasoned, but still just Holyfield's 15th (?) professional bout. Evander crushed him like a beer can.
Scorecards maybe same goys for Ali vs Chuvalo, but Ali later went to hospital. You forgot what Holyfields said when Foreman rocked him.
Doesn't matter you didn't mention that just because you don't like the fact that Charles won 9 fights before those two ranked or not, and then lost twice and won again twice which doesn't indicate that he was past prime.
Ali handled Chuvalo easily .at one point allowing him to hit him in the body.. You are in constant denial, making easily disprovable statements. Foreman was an all time great puncher he was capable of rocking anyone at any stage of his career .He wouldn't rock Marciano,he would launch him!
I didn't mention it because it isn't relevant to the conversation . Everyone with any sense knows Charles was past his best,he had nearly 100 fights on his clock.
Old Foreman fought over 30 times in his comeback and was never off his feet and never seriously hurt in any fight. Foreman outweighed Holyfield by a staggering 49 pounds remind me again how many world class Heavyweights Marciano fought with such a weight disadvantage ? Marciano wouldn't even last 8 rounds with an old Foreman let alone hurting him.
