Any version of Pac beats any version of Oscar. Styles make fights and Pac is hemlock to Oscar's style. Freddie Roach knew this when he signed the fight because he had seen Oscar spar Ivan Calderon and get manhandled. Roach asked why Oscar had found a minimumweight so hard to deal with and Oscar told him that he hates fighting fast, small, and aggressive southpaws. Just like a certain Filipino guy called Emmanuel. Oscar is a left-handed fighter who liked to throw with his feet planted, that's never gonna work out well against a southpaw and one of the fastest fighters the sport has ever seen. His right hand was used mostly to fill combos or set up his left hand. Any time Oscar tries to use the jab Manny parries it, gives him a shot of Manila Ice, and pivots out like he did to practically every jab heavy fighter he ever fought. Manny is and always would have been a stylistic nightmare for Oscar prime or not and at whichever weight you want. Too fast, too awkward, too powerful, and, most importantly, too southpaw.

And Manny was a complete package at 140 too as well as being a horrible style for ODLH...

Oscar was all about the jab in his prime and Manny loved countering the jab every chance he got. Manny's defence is much better than he gets credit for so I really don't see how Oscar would stop him when he scarcely every scored stoppages over any of his big name opponents. I like Oscar a lot but Oscar always had his hands full with southpaws and Manny is the best southpaw to ever do it imo.

I used to discredit the win due to Oscar looking drained. The more I've seen the fight the more I see the ways that Pacquiao was a nightmare for Oscar.

I think the awkward movement in the explosive nature of Manny's Style would greatly affect Oscar's ability to Jab and I don't think Oscar has the right hand needed to win as that was poison for Manny. Oscar could also struggle mightily to go 12 rounds without taking breaks and manny can go 12 hard rounds.

I'm not ready to declare Manny a definite winner but 'we cant simply say Oscar would be a little younger and at a more optimal weight and would dominate because I don't think that would happen.

Margarito had a 73 inch reach, Algieri had a 72 inch reach, Mosley had a 71 inch reach, Clottey had a 70 inch reach, Barrera had a 70 inch reach, and Morales had a 72 inch reach. It's not like their arms did them any good when all of them got beat by Manny. It's almost as if Pacquiao, who stood at only 5'5 and had a 67 inch reach, understood how to beat larger opponents and how to close distance incredibly fast and very successfully. His whole career was him fighting and beating up on guys much bigger than him. If anybody knows how to negate a reach advantage, it's Manny Dapidran Pacquiao.

    Doesn’t Pac only have 1 fight at 140 ?

If im not mistaken that was against Hatton. I think he was just over 140 to fight a drained Oscar so that’s a catch weight. Oscar beat JCC Sr at 140 right?

Based on the opposition, De La Hoya is better at that weight no doubt.

Don’t hit me with the JCC Sr was past it. Hatton didn’t even have a proper training camp for Pacquaio, and had already been KO’d by Floyd and also never looked after himself between fights.

    Before
    Let this fact sinked in:

De La Hoya went down 1 division from light middleweigth while Pac step up two divisions from lightweight. Take note Pac just had 1 fight at lightweight against Diaz and had to step up two weight divisions... If you complain that Oscar was drained how about Pac? Wasn't he severely overblown for the weight? Yes! Wasn't he severly undersized? Yes! De La Hoya hold the size advantage nearly 4 inches in height and 6 inches in reach. The fight odds, the Bookies were favoring the “Golden Boy” in the fight even though Pac was rated 1P4P simply because Pac was a naturally a superfeather and just got severely overblown and undersized.

Hatton was the man at 140 but not at 147. He looked average fighting at 147 when he fought Collazo in May 2006. Mayweaather dragged him to fight at 147 in Dec 2007 (not his best weight) and got KO in 10. He moved down to his best class in 2008 and defended his lineal title twice againt Lazcano and Malignaggi before fighting Pac in 2009. When he fought Pac Hatton was the lineal champ, the man at 140.
