145-141 Lockridge.Definite robbery, the only way Gomez could have won is if you scored all the competitive rounds for him.
In fairnes Gomez won rounds 11,12,13 and round 15 was even. After round 10 I was laughing my ass off at the thought of Gomez winning a decision.Lockridge probably would have knocked him out if he didn't sit back on his lead.
Say what you will about Gomez and his ruling over a weak division, being a dirty fighter, etc......all of that is true. He was a ballsy ****er, though. If you were going to beat him, he was going out on his shield, he saw to that. He wasn't going to run from you and give anything away. For that reason, I loved his effort against Lockridge. But yeah, he lost. Disgraceful decision.
Lockridge robbed big time in that one. I recall watching that one with family and all of us being disgusted.
I haven't watched the fight in a while, but I remember thinking that the rounds Lockridge won were far more decisive than the ones Gomez won, but simply adding up rounds won for both fighters resulted in a close fight. The fight is probably the best argument there is for a more expansive scoring approach other than just "10-9 for the winner."
If you start up on the British fractions system, I’m going to bring @scartissue in here for reinforcements.
