lol he was DEFINITELY more than slightly past prime against Mercer? Are you actually trying to argue otherwise? Holmes didn’t exactly have to be in tip top shape to beat the likes of Mercer.
What I am saying is that if he was still able to beat Mercer and Compete with Holyfield many years later, the version of Holmes that lost to Spinks (twice) was still a damn good Heavyweight. Arguably as good as the very overrated Tyson Fury.
P4P Fury isn’t in the same solar system with Michael Spinks in boxing chops but Spinks ain’t winning this fight. And it’s not all about size.
He may have still been a good heavyweight but he was a far cry from his best which is why he struggled against the likes of Spoon and Williams. “Arguably as good as the very overrated Tyson Fury”. In your honest opinion (if possible) do you think this version of Holmes does anywhere near as good against Usyk?
I don't think he would hurt Usyk. But, I think he would be competitive with Usyk, and, I highly doubt Usyk would have Homes in the kind of trouble he had Fury in late in the fight. I would expect a somewhat close, but clear, decision win for Usyk. Against prime Holmes, I envision the reverse, with Holmes edging Usyk on points.
