He was on a bit of a roll there with 3 good wins in a row and then started talking about getting paid crazy money in his next fight. Did he simply price himself out of good opportunities to keep the momentum going? I think he could have done well for himself as a gatekeeper/occasional upset kinda guy but he just doesn’t fight often enough for that to happen anymore.
He doesn't have a top promoter or manager. He's also high-risk, he's won a couple of fights he was supposed to lose. He's a handful for any heavyweight, he's big and has exceptionally long arms which he uses to keep his opponents at bay.
I definitely agree he is high risk for some of these young prospects out there if he were more active, but surely some of these prospects would like to get in the ring with a guy who is beatable but would give them experience and test their abilities against bigger, taller opponents, no?
I mean ESPN went out of their way to help him beat Vianello so I'm surprised they haven't matched him up with someone again.
Seriously Professor? Surely you remember him beating Michael Coffee twice and then Guido Vianello in his last fight.
No joke. Honestly never heard of him. Must've missed those fights with Coffee and Vianello. Actually the first I ever heard of Guido was when he fought Efe Ajagba.
Not to be a dick or anything.... but that was actually the third match you'd scored for him. you also scored the Rice-Coffie rematch. Cut back on the weed, hippie.
With Vianello fighting Torrez Jr. tomorrow night, I am reminded of Jonathan Rice and his inactivity. Rice beat Vianello last time out and could/should have capitalized on this win by getting a shot at another up and coming prospect to see if he can pull another upset. Too bad he priced himself out, there are a lot of great fights for good money out there at heavyweight.
