I think it will be a closer fight than many are expecting. Opetaia worried me with his performance last fight.
Jai was well in front and won just about every round till an accidental head-clash in the 9th round broke his nose. After the clash was then Bredsis started to win a few rounds.
I think Opetaia will win comfortably and will probably outclass Massey and may well stop him. However, the point I was trying to make in my previous post is that had Opetaia fought Riakporhe prior to the later losing to CBS most fans would've deemed Riakporhe a higher calibre of opponent than Massey when that is just not the case. Massey>>Riakporhe. Watch their fight Massey was robbed And that Massey is actually a good fighter and is very tough. He will unquestionably be the 2nd best opponent Opetaia will have fought. Granted, Opetaia's resume outside of Briedis is very weak though
I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Many excellent boxers rise through the divisions - including the most recent undisputed heavyweight world champion who you probably said was too small. Opetaia is a lot better than someone like Parker who is a gatekeeper type.
There are very few cruiserweights who are able to transition into heavyweights successfully. Most fail when they are tested by bigger men. Usyk is one of the exceptions to that rule, and he had already been tested by heavyweights in the WSB prior. Calling Parker, a former heavyweight world champion and currently #4 of the heavyweight division, a gatekeeper? That's just silly. He'd beat Opetaia, and has the experience to do it.
Firslty, boxing rankings are arbitrary. Secondly, he was a belt holder and only has the distinction of "world champion" because boxing does not have a coherent ranking system/world championship. Parker is not in contention to be the best in the division. He "won" against Zhang via snooze and Zhang's age and he won against the shell of Wilder because Wilder hardly threw a punch. It remains to be seen how Opetaia would do at heavyweight, but he's a damn sight more interesting and entertaining than Parker, and is probably more than good enough to beat him. Parker just isn't that good.
I agree with those who say Massey is underrated; he is very durable and will come to fight not lie down. I still have Opetaia winning decisively but this fight is not without intrigue.
Being "interesting" doesn't translate into success as a heavyweight. You also don't get to 4th in the world without being good.
He`s unproven against fighters like Zhang and AJ, he doesn`t have Usyk`s style and Usyk proved his chin v AJ and Fury.
As I've literally just stated, there is no legitimate ranking system, so what you're talking is nothing but fluff. Nobody bar yourself and a few New Zealanders will miss Parker when he retires.
