I really think Archie could win this. Michael Moorer was a very good fighter and had success at heavyweight and light heavy. But looking at some of his performances against Everett Martin, Bert cooper, old foreman and old holy I can see where the more skilled Mongoose could prevail. Would I want to put money on this fight ? Probably not
Be a good fight. But think prime Archie was just to well rounded. Didn’t have a flaw from 51-54. Could see Moorer winning one of three
Moorer was a murderous puncher as we know @ 175 but a bit unproven as he went in weight befor he could really put his stamp on the division. A. M. by KO
Moorer had essentially the same weaknesses as a LHW that he later showed @HW - a suspect chin & a tendency to fall asleep in fights. Moore prevails by KO at some point IMO.
Archie Moore is just too good for Moorer, even as a HW it’s just too far for MM. But that’s the same for pretty much everybody, Archie is one of the best to ever do it.
I was told by the head of the CIA once that if Archie Moore and Michael Moorer had married Conway Twitty...there's a good, good chance that their son would've been named Conway Moorerererr. And that Kitty Wells would've done him raw-dog. I am inclined to believe it.
As long as he came out to ‘Hello Darlin’ as his ring-walk music, he can call himself whatever he wants.
