Which Fantasy Fight Would Possibly Have Been A Let Down?

Hopkins Jones rematch in the late 90's. IMO Jones would make him look silly again.

 

Sanchez-Pedroza probably wouldn’t have been an exciting fight.

 

I don't think so especially since Hopkins would be having to move up in weight.

RJJ broke his hand vs Hopkins and still beat him comfortably without getting out of the first gear.

Yes but the thing is people like to bring up Hopkins was green but forget RJJ had less professional fights than Hopkins at the time. Hopkins was more of an aggressive fighter in his younger days and become better technician as he become older. But i don't think that would necessarily help Hopkins being a more cautious technical/tactical fighter. RJJ would just be too fast for Hopkins again in another dull tactical fight that RJJ would win comfortably on points.

 

Larry Holmes would stink out the joint no matter the all-time great opponent in any fantasy setting.

Chang vs Yuh. Most on here think it would be a war. I personally think Chang would quickly figure out what Yuh was about and adopt in and out tactics, similar to the Torres bout. Add to that his octopus like infighting and I see Chang being surprisingly dominant in shutting down Yuh imo.

 

Mayweather v a lot of ATG matchups would either be one sided or just a stinky fight

 

Dempsey-Wills - this could've resulted in either a quick blowout for Dempsey or an ugly decision for Wills.

Marciano-Valdes - Marciano may have dominated an ugly inside contest the way Satterfield later did.

 

Hopkins vs Ward would have been incredibly dull
