He had loaded gloves v Cotto, Clottey had a low out put and he was completely out-boxed by the much smaller Manny.
Ya cause rabbit punching, holding and hitting, and crotch shots are the definition of elite skills --- ALL of which Ward did about every fight
Leonard clearly lost the middle rounds of that fight to Hagler, he gassed badly and is lucky it was a 12 rounder.
He also beat Sergio Martinez although that was very early in Martinez's career still a solid win considering what Martinez did go on to achieve. Margarito also gave Kermit Cintron his first loss and beat Joshua Clottey which are also solid wins. The issue I have with Margarito and it's why I'm a firm believer he did use loaded wraps. Look at his stoppage percentage prior to the handwraps controversy and then look at his stoppage percentage after it. Margarito never stopped anyone legitimately after the controversy.
Ward was pound for pound 1 with great defense and inside fighting. Olympic Gold medalist. If he was from England he'd get praised on these threads. He would be the best UK boxer ever
He won his gold on a gift iirc and he was instated as P4P no. 1 after his gift over Kovalev around the same time Chocolatito fought Sor Rungvisai and got unlucky on the cards. Chocolatito was almost always ahead of him P4P when both were at their peak, the only difference is that Ward was “luckier” with the judges than Choc was. There is a very thin line between inside fighting and straight up fouling and Ward did the latter more often than not. He beat Kovalev and Bika on fouls for example. What annoys me most about Ward is that he was an incredibly skilled boxer who could have won without his incessant fouling. He wouldn’t be better than Wilde, Fitz, Ted Kid Lewis, Freddie Welsh, Buchanan, or even Calzaghe arguably.
There ya go Another Lemming accusing an innocent man just because Naz Richardson lied about plaster blocks, the CSAC went off like a scalded cat & banned Antonio only to find out later there were no Plaster blocks EVER The wraps were microscopically examined only to find there was absolutely NO PROOF there was ever any Plaster involved But sadly the CSAC were not honest enough to admit they were wrong & refused to return his boxing licence for over 2 years destroying his career based on a blatant lie
He was one of the dirtiest fighters I have ever seen , & Ive seen a lot, there wasn't a foul he didnt use. He chickened out & reitred when it looked like he might have to face Beterbiev , Bivol etc like Canelo who's testes shrunk after Bivol whupped him
Stop LIEING There were NEVER any loaded wraps EVER The CSAC were exposed as being liars in believing the King of liars Richardson
The issue is Ward's two biggest wins over Kovalev have major asterisks over it. The 1st fight pretty much 90 percent of fans believe Kovalev clearly won. And in the rematch it ended very controversially with some of the fight ending shots straying low. I'll give Ward the benefit of the doubt I thought he was breaking down Kovalev in the 2nd fight a few rounds prior to the stoppage and would've won regardless of the controversial ending. But Ward definitely lost the 1st fight no question in my mind.
The Sulphur & Calcium found in the wraps were proven to be consistant with what is found in HUMAN SWEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & NOT Plaster of Paris Read the labs findings & not the CSAS version which the CSAC did NOT tell the truth. Antonio NEVER lied at all but Richardson & the CSAC did
