Let's say after the Tyson fight, Spinks hung around in the heavyweight division. Could Spinks make waves and do as good or better than say Michael Moorer?

No. He had no legs. Both his knees were completely shot. He had no future left as a fighter.

Maybe he earns back some lost respect, but that’s all.

He beats Tubbs, Bowe, Bruno, Holyfield and rematches Tyson in 90-91 and wins.

That would be enough to undo that disgraceful quit job. Just.

In this case winning would actually hurt him because it would clarify the Tyson result was against a non washed Michael Spinks. This is what happened to Holmes by continuing to fight and succeed. All he did is remove whatever asterisk would have otherwise been attached to Tyson beating him.

That would be a very harsh way of marking what Jake described. Do you mark down Foreman for winning the title back at 45?

The argument Foremans loss to Ali is a fluke isn't based on age or Foreman being washed. Also Holmes didn't win the title or add much of anything to his resume all he did was prove he was still good a decade after the Tyson fight.

You would honestly mark Spinks down if he did everything Jake described?

Couldn't really do much in there, Stevie.
Not against a prime Tyson who was wound up to hell.

& that’s why he took the money & ran with a non-performance. He should never have seen a cent.
