I agree. Watching the fight, Lewis gave him a George Foreman uppercut that sent Frazier to space. After I saw that and Vitali was still on his feet I just thought that Lennox would get an easy decision over him in the rematch, but there wouldn't be no knockout

Yep it's a shame no rematch but Lewis had done his bit over the years and more.
He probably knew deep down that a rematch would be even harder, Lewis was getting no younger and Klitschko hitting his prime.
I do think tho a rematch not too far in the future could have seen Lewis possibly win but time was against him.

Every one knows Lewis only gave rematches when he didn't win an didn't fight anyone who had close disputed fights against him like mercer an vitali again

The Klitschkos’ idea of a rematch was ‘you beat me up, now you have to face my brother.’

Sanders, Puritty, Byrd … they weren’t exactly the bravest duo on cleaning up their own messes. It was more like running home to their brother after getting whupped by the schoolyard bully and saying ‘I can’t beat him, you go beat him for me.’

Lennox punched holes in the guy’s face. Those weren’t shaving cuts nor created by a butt. Them’s the rules — Lewis won fair and square. That he did so in half-ass shape with one foot in the retirement home makes it even more emphatic.

I’ll never understand when/why the whole ‘you only beat me once, you have to beat me twice for it to count’ thing started. They fought. The better man won. He doesn’t have to prove it again. If it’s a fluke like an injury or whatever, sure. But beating a man head to head with no controversy (no sane ref or corner would have let Vitali go on with half his face caved in) by stoppage no less should settle it.

It's funny because that was exactly Lewis' logic against Rahman. He was beaten fair and square, but somehow, Rahman had to prove it again.

I'm a little surprised at people whom don't think much of Lewis' victory. Vitali was taking beyond-Tyson level punches and was shaken plenty. Even without the cut he would have been stopped in the next round imo.

That said, it was one of Lewis' most exciting fights! I think he would have come in shape for a rematch and that would have been a great one to see imo.

Where are you coming up with that? There was a rematch because there was a rematch clause from the first fight.

A judge upheld the contract and ruled Rahman had to defend vs. Lewis or sit out 18 months … at which point he could fight whomever he pleased. Rahman was compensated $10M for his troubles.

That was exactly what Lewis said on TV during the promotion of the rematch.

No, there was a rematch clause which Lewis enforced ( in court) because Rahman with Don Kings help wanted to get the Tyson fight next.

Even that washed up Tyson most likely would have waxed glass chinned Rahman and Lewis would have never ever get to those belts again as long as Don King was alive.

I'm aware of the rematch clause. I was just pointing Lewis double standard.
By the way, I believe Rahman wanted to fight Brian Nielsen in China.

Lewis knocked Vitali Klitschko out legitimately. Lewis would have knocked Vitali out within the next few rounds most probably. Lewis just has far more power and experience down the stretch.

I do think Vitali Klitschko wouldve won a rematch
