    George Foreman vs Shannon Briggs

    1 Briggs
    2 Foreman
    3 Foreman
    4 Foreman
    5 Foreman
    6 Briggs
    7 Briggs
    8 Foreman
    9 Foreman
    10 Briggs
    11 Briggs
    12 Foreman

    115-113 Foreman

It's a closer fight than people make out but Foreman was still a clear winner in a competitive fight he landed more punches and his jab overall was the key. But in the end it was better for boxing that Foreman lost as he was far too old and was holding the division back not defending against any top 10 contenders. Foreman could go out gracefully losing a controversial decision instead of being KO'ed.

Foreman also did get a huge gift vs Schulz and won other razor thin close fights ve Savarese, Stewart, so it's not like Foreman didn't get his fair share of luck in close fights aswell.

This is what I came to say. It was a close fight either way. The expectation was that Foreman had looked bad against Axel and Savarese so he had finally hit the wall, and Briggs was on another ko streak so he was gonna run George over and that didn't happen. So robbery is screamed. It could've gone either way. I will say Briggs' performance was more disappointing as he was "prime" and should've been able to push Foreman over the cliff at that point and couldn't.

I remember scoring it narrowly for Foreman but its hardly the outrageous robbery some folks make out. There have been far worse decisions.

No. Big George was robbed of an opportunity to fight Lewis

You really think Foreman would've fought Lewis at that stage in his career ? Foreman hadn't fought a top 10 Heavyweight for 3 years. Even if by some miracle Foreman did fight Lewis he would get beat up bad.

Foreman losing to Briggs was a blessing in disguise he could retire respectfully going 12 rounds in a competitive fight rather than taking a beating.

It could be seen as a win win situation where if Foreman gets destroyed its because hes old and if he comes anywhere close to winning it makes him look amazing. Foreman winning that fight would have made him the consensus HW GOAT.

His last 3 opponents were if nothing else huge sluggers. Maybe Foreman was using that to prep for Lennox who really wasn't one. While Foremans chances of winning were great after watching the Briggs fight I don't think anyone should be fearful for Foremans health either. He was incredibly durable.

I had George winning it by minimum four points, and I find it amusing when people say Briggs won.

Briggs ate that jab all night and mostly looked bad.

Briggs lacks a single legitimate win over respectable opposition in his entire career.

Sergei Liakhovich is probably his best win who was coming off an upset win over Lamon Brewster in a great fight. Briggs vs Liakhovich however was not a great fight infact it was terrible until the KO in the last round.

Briggs also has a win over Ray Mercer but Mercer was completely shot by that point so i don't think that win means a whole alot.

But yeah Briggs has alot of padding on his record the 60-6 record with 54 stoppages looks impressive on the outside but when you delve deeper 90 percent of those wins are against journeyman fighters.

Foreman edged it. Going out on a great jabbing performance wasn't what anyone would expect from him, but that's what we got.
