Did Usyk's resume get better or worse ?

Might be better, because it accentuates how different stylistic wins Dubois and Joshua were. Joshua retains his value as he has relatively deep resume with numerous contenders beaten. Dubois's stock rises as he gains that tough and willful quality, whilst losing his quitter label.

Beating Joshua does not mean Dubois gets past Ruiz, Parker, Old Man Klitschko, Old Man Povetkin, or Whyte. He could, but if anything the volatility of money driven Ridyah season repeatedly displayed how rooted in reputation and ABC logic a lot of predictions are without taking into account the variety of stylistic choices and attributes coming into play, on top of miscallenous factors like preparation, inexperience in trenches et al.

And Usyk still befuddled Daniel whilst moving forward and stopping him in 9, all the low blows notwithstanding. Joshua presented himself notably better against the current undisputed champion.

The world did not end. Joshua is not rebuilding his superstar status, but he was a major part of an era.

Usyks win over Dubious aged better

Andy Ruiz and Daniel Dubious beat Anthony Joshua more dominantly than Usyk did.

    Wild sport

This result neither enhances or diminishes Usyks resume, he beat both of them, there is no more to say.

    Usyk hasn’t lost a fight.

He has already beaten both combatants.

Even before first bell, it would’ve been illogical to suggest that his resume could be diminished by any possible complexion/outcome for this fight.

It's not the same beating a respected champion twice as beating a stupid bodybuilder twice.

By letting Dubois punch him for free in round one, AJ's stock went really down, and the credit you get for beating him goes down with them. Hence Usyk gets less credit for beating him twice and his resume is worse. You can argue that beating dubois gives more credit, but he only beat him once (not twice) and with some controversy (I saw no controversy, but anyway, it never helps).

It depends on how you view things and which lens you view it through.

The fact that DD is now a legitimate champion, having now defended his spurious IDF in the ring - that can only boost Usyk's resume, as he has now beat 3 current, ex or future heavyweight champs at heavyweight.

Sure it maybe creates a smidgeon of scrutiny on the AJ wins, but those back to back wins were a younger, less shopworn AJ that MOST folks had winning the 1st fight - untill it happend (too big, hits too hard etc). I appreciate that revisionist history is at the core of resume's as they age through the history books, but they were solid wins over the concencus top 2 fighter.

There's little arguments now that he has cleaned out his division either, as Dubois has to go in behind Usyk and Fury now as the 3rd best HW (I know Parker, Zhang, Kabayel & Bakole will have things to say on it of course).

Tbh, i'm not sure how Fury would cope with DD's jab and bombs - his punch resistance looked either gone or going against Usyk, and DD hits real hard, and if Fury is not concentrating and gets tagged?

The simple of way of looking at it is that it doesn’t make any difference, as Usyk has beaten them both.

If he has beaten fighter A and fighter B, it doesn’t really matter if fighter A is better than fighter B or vice versa.

Personally I think it elevates Usyk as much as anything, as it reinforces the point that a naturally smaller guy can handle big punching giants. Dubois is clearly on that category, as is Joshua.

Lewis' resume takes a huge hit for Tyson losing to Danny Willams, Kevin McBride

For Tucker losing to Seldon, Akinwande, Norris, Hide, Ruiz

Golota losing to Grant, Ruiz, Brewster

Holyfield losing to Ruiz, Byrd, Toney etc

Grant losing to McCline, Guinn etc

    Tua losing to Byrd

    Rahman to Ruiz, Maskaev etc

Wlad was as distracted as humanly possible heading into that fight. His fiancé was pregnant and losing her mind, as their relationship disintegrated. Fury ran like a scalded dog from the rematch, as he does all actual challenges.

Imagine having a record of 100-0 but each time all the goons you already beat fight each other, there is always the out come based potential of your resume being viewed as diminished.

    Strange days indeed…most peculiar mama.

    Exactly. Point very well made.

    Clearly, Lewis wasn’t all that.

Or, is that not the intended take away?

    Kidding. :D

Usyk better hope Fury and Chisora don't fight for a 4th time, then his resume would really take a hit...

If Usyk retired right now, he’d just have to sit back and watch his resume slowly but surely be decimated. There’d be only one way for his legacy to go - and that’s apparently down.

    Thanks

Nah, Lewis was a decent fighter but he was one punch sparked out x 2 in his prime by Dillian Whyte level fighters and all his wins aged terribly :D
