How many punches did it take for Tyson to go down? It took a hell of a lot to get Tyson out of there, I've seen some of this current crop of heavyweights fold under a lot less!!
Yeah, that’s fair. But it’s also fair to say that plenty of guys have better chins. Tyson’s was very, very good but it wasn’t ATG level.
I think Tyson could beat any Heavyweight today but i actually see him struggling the most with Tyson Fury the size and clinching of Fury I think Tyson would find it very tough to get going. For me though Tyson is the worst style match up for Usyk in regards to any former Heavyweight great.
I think Tyson took single punches better than most Heavyweights in history, whenever Tyson got stopped it was from a prolonged beating. I'd rate Tyson's chin as very solid atleast in the 8 range.
In a hot dog eating contest, Ruiz would annihilate Tyson for sure. In a boxing match, Ruiz could win if it's Tyson from the year 99 onwards. Even the Post Prison Tyson who fought Bruno, Seldon, Holyfield, I'd probably favor over Ruiz, let alone 80's Tyson. Ruiz has quick hands and is a very durable tank with decent skills and combinations, but Tyson outclasses him in almost every category. For starters, Tyson is the significantly better defensive fighter and his head movement+tight peak a boo guard would give Ruiz serious problems. Second, Tyson would lick his lips seeing Ruiz's huge belly to pound away at with his vicious body shots (no Diddy). Tyson would not be able to miss such a huge target with one eye covered. Tyson in general is better overall than any of the elite fighters today, including Usyk. Obviously he's not as big, durable, or strong as the roided out meat heads who are 250+ and half a foot taller than him, but Tyson's unique combination of power, speed, and technique is something the division hasn't seen before or since. He would've decimated Joshua and Wilder. Joyce is just a big dumb slow target with zero ring IQ or defense. Hrgovic gets slaughtered. Zhang is interesting, but probably just too slow to keep up. I think Usyk, Fury, Parker, and Dubois have the best chance of the current heavies but I'd still favor prime Tyson to win at least 55:45.
I honestly would not be surprised if he stopped both guys in the first round. Mike didn't stop everybody in the first, even some lower level guys made it out and went the distance. But some of those guys had good survival tactics. I think he would blast Dubois and AJ in the first. Especially AJ. As soon as Mike hurts him it's over. No way he doesn't finish him. Mike's style was just so dangerous that even past his prime he stopped guys like Savarese and Stewart in the first. People don't give him much credit for those fights but when you see the same guys vs guys like Holyfield and Foreman, you gotta give Mike props for obliterating them in the first like they are nothing.
I don't really disagree and probably your statement on how casuals and real fans have a trendy way of wrongly rating him in different directions seems pretty accurate to me, but I might say I think his longevity is actually a bit like Patterson's and might be misread a bit, because for their style and early peak, when you considered how long they actually remained relevant, not just the premiere heavyweight, they were still not cupcakes going on many years of fighting, even if they weren't crisp anymore. They were still dangerous, skilled operators, even when one was small and chinny for the weight and the other was just... bananas.
Usyk is a master of boxing, an exceptional fighter in every department who has completed the whole game in boxing, and beat every style. He always finds a way to win no matter who he's up against or where the fight is. His ring IQ, and his mental strength are on another level to Tyson. He would bamboozle Tyson with his superior boxing skills and footwork. You are a fool if you seriously are ''extremely confident'' he beats Usyk. Also prime Fury would be the favourite to beat Tyson. Too big, too good for him

Lack of heart Very one dimensional. Couldn't adapt to save his life Majority of his record was built around beating nobodies. Only looked impressive beating nobodies or washed up fighters. the only things mike didnt have at elite level were size, and too often focus and emotional control. he had elite level power, speed, durability, iq, and heart. mike, when he was on point, was a well schooled physically gifted and determined beast. he didnt always show up that guy, but when he did, he would be a problem for any man who has ever been in a ring. ever.
As a devastating puncher, when Mike won, it was usually sensational. Punchers who secure emphatic and stunning wins, as Mike did, tend to develop a false aura of invincibility - see Liston and Foreman for earlier historical examples of same. It is true that such auras can materially assist said fighters (eg Michael Spinks scared to death - perhaps a somewhat self fulfilling prophecy) but it also may materially cause the devastating puncher himself to become complacent. When a talented fighter eventually comes along who is totally immune to the aura - it can provide for a shock to the system of the reputable puncher - Ali was a prime example of one such a fighter who was not impaired by any fear when he faced the then, current monsters of the division, Liston and Foreman. Louis was also a fighter who might’ve benefited from his own aura at times - but Joe didn’t try to intimidate or rely on same - he was always ready for the more stern challenges of certain opposition who weren’t necessarily impaired by any fear. In his prime, Mike was no doubt great but I often see his material performances and successes against lesser opposition being inflexibly transposed (as imagined) to the same successes against far greater opposition. Any less than impressive complexions and outcomes were almost always put down to Mike being below himself rather than duly crediting the opposition for what they brought to the table. Because many perceived Mike as being invincible - the argument became circular in so far as - IF Mike looked less than invincible or even lost, it had to be that something was “up” with Mike.
Mike Tyson clearly was levels above Dubois, Fury, and AJ. People crap on his resume, but the talent he displayed was just plain obvious. That being said, I’m not sure if he would beat Usyk.
