Both embarrassing Ls Case for both Ruiz - AJ was a -2000 favorite it was one of the biggest upsets in HW history. Gave us the only Mexican HW champ an obese lazy fighter who hasn't done **** since. People still had delusions in 2019 that AJ was the best HW. However it was a very late notice replacement and AJ had success prior to getting stopped even dropping Ruiz. Just made mistake of trading in the pocket with the faster, smaller, better combo puncher. Dubois - AJ a -500 favorite nowhere near the upset Ruiz was. Pre fight AJ tried sonning Dubois in eye to eye interview thing. In the corner he was saying Dubois was **** moments before getting stopped. Got hit with one of the most telephraphed punches I've ever seen at the end of the 1st round. How does a top HW get hit by something so avoidable? Dropped numerous times, then he actually manages to stun Dubois and runs right into the KO. Also in his Hometown.
Dubois was more embarrassing because he got beaten up and whooped from opening bell. Ruiz fight almost seemed like a lucky punch. Dubois fight was obviously less of an upset because AJ had already had multiple whoopings beforehand whereas he was a wrecking ball before Ruiz.
My view is Dubois, because AJ looked like an amateur in there - against Ruiz he was boxing well, put hime down but then got discombobulated by a temple shot. Against Dubois his guard was non-existent, his footwork was dreadful, and his chin was in the air at all times. So, my take is Dubois is more emabarrassing because of his own display
AJ is clearly better the Ruiz just got caught trying to finish it and never recovered. I always seen Dubois as a 50-50, I wasn't conned in thinking he was in the form of his life off the back of Franklin, Wallin, Helenius and Ngannou. My prediction was DDD in 4, he done it in 5.
The Ruiz loss was more of a fluke. Joshua probably beats Ruiz 7 times out of 10 whereas Dubois has his number. However the embarrassment for Joshua is he was over in MSG to "conquer America". This was supposed to be the start of elevating him into superstar status both sides of the pond. He got dismantled and never went back again. So from thay perspective it was significantly more embarrassing for them.
I'm not too keen on Joshua either, but this endless bashing following a loss seems way over the top. On the one hand, people complain that this is a weak era where fighters avoid tough competition and potential losses, while on the other hand, when someone loses a fight against a top competitor, everyone jumps on him. Joshua has lost fights to top competitors, yet he is equally criticised for ducking other top fighters and for losing to the best. How does that even make sense? Boxing fans can be very strange.
Ruiz, because he was outclassed by a fat and out of shape fighter, Dubois is a puncher and he beat an older version of Joshua who we already knew could lose...
AJ lost against Ruiz and Dubois, i would not say the losses were embarrassing, they are merely losses. Any sports person fearing embarrassment should they lose, perhaps has the wrong mindset, yes feel annoyed, frustrated and such, and use that to motivate you to improve, rectify errors and if get opportunity avenge the loss Having embarrasment fears could well end up like Floyd Patterson, who took a false beard and glasses to bouts as disguise in case of loss.
Ruiz was more embarrassing because the fight was designed to "showcase" AJ to the Americans, at Madison Square Garden. He was supposed to conquer America, like Beatlemania and the Ed Sullivan show. Eddie said.
