Canto fought in the golden age of flyweights. There was not a stronger era especially if we're only counting 1970 and onwards (as this list does) in flyweight history. If we're only focusing on skills then why is Foreman so high? Is Foreman more skilled than Hearns, Gomez, Olivares, Gonzalez, Chang, Lopez, Estrada, past prime Jofre, Arguello, etc?
Lomacheno above the likes of Lewis, Spinks, is a bit baffling to me. Lewis is considered top 5 H2H in his weightclass as is Spinks. Would Lomachenko even be top 10 H2H in any of the weightclasses he has fought at ? Whilst Lomachenko is talented he's shown some suspect tactics giving away rounds at vital moments that has cost him in his losses that stops him from reach the next level of greatness. I also don’t think Fury should be on there he's been down 8 times and has had too many poor performances against sub par opposition.
Lewis has also shown some suspect moments getting flatlined by two boxers who do not deserve mention in the same sentence as any of those on this list. Lewis had a considerable size advantage above most of his opponents and I do not consider him a top 5 H2H in his weight class. The biggest names on his resume came when they were long past prime and his skills get overrated. Your mentioning of Loma's "suspect tactics" is the reason I rate his ukrainian counterpart with a similar style, Usyk higher though.
You may have misunderstood my criteria. I'm focussing on prime ability overall, and whilst skill is a part of that obviously so are attributes.
Well for me Lewis has one of the strongest Heavyweight resumes apart from Holmes, Louis, Ali, no one else has beaten as many ranked fighters as him in the Heavyweight division and arguably he was in the 2nd strongest Heavyweight era of all time. I just don't see the argument for Lomachenko above Spinks and Lewis personally because I wouldn't rank Lomachenko even top 10 H2H in any of the weightclasses he has fought at.
I still hold that while maybe you can use lack of competition for other lower weight fighters such as Arbachakov, there is no way you could use that argument against the guy who was the best of the best era of 112 lbs.
Let's use Gomez as an example then. Why is Foreman's ability better than Gomez? Besides power and keep in mind Gomez could also hit like a truck, what puts Foreman above Gomez?
We both know Gomez can bang, but Foreman's power was ridiculous. His ring cutting was also exceptional. Obviously there are areas Gomez beats Foreman in but overall I believe George is the more effective fighter. I'm a big fan of Gomez also hence whilst I rate him so highly. Foreman's Saddler trained ability to deflect punches and mitigate damage is also a stylistic nuance few fighters possess leading to his massive success in shootouts.
Fury's recouparitive power's are something to behold. In a p4p sense also, his size may also count as a detriment, there is a reason there have been no other great heavyweight champions of his frame, no Valuev does not count haha. In the aftermath and now people seem to think Usyk smashed Fury, but throughout those middle rounds Fury was very successful and the fight was a lot closer than people think. His clinic on Klitschko is also highly impressive. Plus the ability he demonstrated in wins over other alphabet belt holders/contenders in Whyte, Wilder and Chisora are also impressive. His inconsistency needs to be noted though with the Nganouu fight as a blemish on his record.
