Ideally every trainer should have at least boxed a few AM fights. That being said, you need someone that knows how to teach, and has an "eye" for boxing. Many people have been watching boxing for years and still can''t see certain things, sometimes myself included. Someone like emanuel steward was the best of both worlds.

There are dozens and dozens of boxing youtube channels out there like this. Theres no difference they all just try to sound smart and point out the obvious using really fancy lingo and presentation to trick you. OMG "Level Change" Holy **** "Film Study" maybe AJ should be trained by RafElusive 2.0 next

Disagree. Wylie showcased the more nuanced parts of the sport like probing, guard manipulation, forearm use and so on.
All of these might be super obvious to you, but not to many others. I learned a lot watching these types of analysis. Wylie is/was one of the better ones at breaking down techniques.

You just can't learn the sport from watching no matter how intently or how often you're doing so. You have to be in a gym doing it for years. It's like listening to people speak a language for years - maybe you can convince yourself you can understand it, but if you've never spoken it, you actually don't know s***.

Again, can you imagine a tennis coach teaching a top tennis player having NEVER played? It's crazy.

Lee was far better than a lot of those obnoxious wannabes. He got to the point, conveyed what he saw, and ended the video. He also conceptualized more, expanding the framework through which you saw boxing, rather than calling techniques fancy names and reverse-engineering. Marvin Hagler (R.I.P) used to share his video on his switch-hitting angles if I remember correctly. Liked it very much, same way Riddick Bowe loved David Christian's essay on him. Sure, everybody likes flattery, but still.

Davison, Hill, or Atlas. They all could help develop a fighter to a certain level. Helping a finished product operating at a world level takes a truly special guy. Most would do good if they didn't spoil him.

As in most sports, it comes down to the value and respect the athlete holds for their coach, regardless of experience. A fighter will appreciate any knowledge being given, through studious research for their benefit. However, something they will never be able to coach, is what to do when the **** hits the fan. Perhaps, this was evident with Ben Davison and Lee, Round 1-5 against DDD.

Seems a bit like dubois was busy training for a fight while joshua was practising techniques to keep it from becoming a fight.

Thats the main problem with some of these coaches that research and think it all out. They get high on their information they need to share to be known as the best coach. While don charles in dubois,s corner was getting him fight ready and giving him more limited essential information/knowledge looks like ben and joshua were busy prioritising masterplans and information overload. Looked to me like joshua wasnt actually ready for a fight in there.

I think ben has potential like most of them have that have all the information but he needs to learn from it now. You need to get your fighter ready for a top level fight.

Dubois was doing hard sprinting sessions every single day up until the thursday before the fight apparently meanwhile ben and joshua busy trying to perfect the perfect punch/gameplan to stop dubois doing what he ended up doing. The problem you,ve got is when or if that doesnt work your probably less prepared than the other guy thats been spending that time getting physically prepared for a fight.

I think boxing was banned in Anatoly's day where he was in Ukraine so he gets a pass. Also he was the foundational trainer for Usyk, Loma, Gvozdyk...he definitely knows what he's doing if he molded those guys.

Youtubers are just fame seekers who will do anything to make you click their video. They all say the same stuff Lee Wylie just uses slow motion and classical music. Thats the only difference between someone like him and RafElusive 2.0. But I'm telling you its all the same they all overload their videos with as much bs they can to make the viewer feel like they just discovered the secrets of boxing or something so you will keep coming back. Nevermind if most of it if not all of it is just a bunch of crap that wont work in a real fight. These people will just tell you anything to get clicks. Lee Wylie has never boxed he's just a fat bald guy who probably never even played a sport in his life who watches boxing yet acts like he knows everything about boxing.
