The fight hasn't even ****ing happened, Christ. Beterbiev is Undefeated, all knockouts. Hasn't come close to losing but if Bivol struggles and wins then Beterbiev is old and injured. What a load of bollocks.
Beterbiev is four months away from turning 40 and has been plagued with injury and inactivity throughout his career He's had 20 fights in his 11 year pro career but 9 of them were in the first two years So he's had 11 fights in the last 9 years But that being said, even though he is obviously well past his physical prime he's still extremely formidable, the #1 ranked LHW on merit, the unified WBC, IBF, and WBA champ, top 10 P4P on merit, and the only champion in the sport with a KO 100%. The knee surgery is a concern as it should be but if he's as good and as sharp as he was in his last fight (which is a big if) he stands at least a 50% chance of winning. But a 33 y/o Beterbiev vs a 33 y/o Bivol would stand a much higher chance IMO The winner will be a deserved, bare minimum, top 4 P4P
I'm happy to discredit the win somewhat since he's facing a 40 year old. At the same time Beterbiev loves his hormones, so that evens it out a little. I think it's pretty obvious Bivol has been ageing Beterbiev, so he shouldn't be excused for that.
Aged beterbiev out He won't win but I am not giving credit if he does, as he would put a glass eye to sleep Regarding his wife, did he also beat her by decision?
At this very moment, Beterbiev is collectively both ATG unstoppable force and old has-been who should retire.
Of course boxing fans will absolutely discredit him. "Beterbiev was ancient" "He beat a one legged Beterbiev" Etc.
Yeah if AB shows that he's basically still fighting very well and gives DB a hard time, maybe scores a knockdown, less people will discredit DB
I have to agree with both of you. Boxing fans are weird. No one hardly gives credit to a fighter for stopping someone in the first round anymore, it's all about the other guy being "exposed", and "never that good". Hard-fought 12 round fights with you declared the winner, seem to get you a lot more respect. It's understandable to an extent, don't get me wrong, but greatness comes in various forms. There are different ways to win. I feel it's equally as impressive to destroy someone, or shut their lights out from the first round, as it is to win a hard-fought decision. Were people like this back in 1988, when a 21-year-old Tyson destroyed a 31-year-old Spinks in Spinks's last fight? I weren't around in them days so I wouldn't know, but I highly doubt it somehow.
