Do you think the damage Fury and Wilder gave eachother substantially affected them as fighters?

Well, if we're counting only clean rounds, then Fury only got 2 - 5th and 6th. AJ had 2 in the rematch (2nd and 9th, in the 10th that you mentioned he got his ass whooped bad) and you could argue he won 2-3 more. In the first fight AJ also clearly won 2 rounds and you could give him 2 swing rounds. He also took a lot less damage and wasn't knocked down like Fury was.

Apologies got my rounds mixed up there.

Even if we were to take your opinion on AJ and Fury having two clean rounds won a piece, it's still something that took AJ 24 rounds to achieve as opposed to 12.

Fury clearly has the better performance despite almost getting knocked out, and AJ had two attempts at it.

Fury's performance against Usyk is similar to AJ's in the rematch in my view. Both had some strong rounds, but both had some terrible ones also, with Fury having better stretch between 4th and 7th and AJ having the best round out of 2 (9th). Fury also had the worse round.

Let's see how Fury performs in the rematch, cause it's not a given he will be better.

Can't say I fully agree. While AJ did improve in the rematch he only had one dominant round vs Fury's three imo.

Fury did have the worst singular round, but the fact he survived it and wasn't subsequently finished in the following rounds shows a level that AJ simply doesn't possess.

You are right in that the rematch isn't a given, but let's be real here, would Fury's detractors give him credit if he won?

Yes and when comparing the styles of AJ and Usyk, Olek described Joshua as the more classic boxer which does have its own merits.

Basically, Fury was stopped in 9 rounds whereas AJ saw out 24 rounds over 2 fights without being anywhere near as badly hurt as Fury was and without any flagrant assistance from the referee to save him.

Which 3? Only rounds 5 and 6 were clear for Fury, you can give him 3, 4 and 7, but they were close.

I will give him 100% credit if he wins. I am not a detractor tho. Just can't stand the guy these guys.

Evander was shot after the Bowe Triolgy, did he perform well? Yes, because he was just a better fighter than most guys. Evander lost to Lennox due to not being able to punch as much

Wlad's problem with Fury (Boring as **** fight btw)
Was that Wlad finally fought someone with reach, stamina and who he couldn't jab jab grab. He was confused the whole fight.

it reminded me almost like Evander holyfield vs Mike Tyson where Mike was confused as hell most of the fight, because even though he lost to Buster Douglas, Douglas never walked forward from round 1 just beating Mike up forcing him to go back and it confused the hell out of him.

It happens a lot. Fighters are used to fighting particular styles, then 1 guy has a particular style you don't have much experience with and now you just look completly confused and don't know what to do

I think beer and drugs had much worse effect on Fury than WIlder fights. Though he was dropped 4 times, Fury only lost like 2 rounds in teir 1st fight, 0 rounds in rematch and 2-3 rounds in 3rd fight (no more than 5 total rounds).

Wilder - obviously yes, he got battered badly in their 2nd and 3rd fights, took a brutal beating

4, 5 and 6 were clear Fury rounds imo, and it's also generally agreed in the forum as well from what I've seen.

It's not an unreasonable thing to think. It was and still is a 50-50 and I was worried for Usyk when Fury was landing those big rights to Usyk's spleen.
Most if not all heavyweights would still have their hands full against either man and the rematch may be as exciting as the first.

Agreed. Usyk looked in trouble for those rounds. Those body shots affected Usyk and probably made Usyk absolutley floor it for three rounds after that.

The Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran type Darkness/Craziness makes some fighters compelling b/c you know they want to hurt the other guy, not just cruise to a win.
