Tbh your bias is showing when you consider a stoppage a poor performance but a decision against an old Chisora "growing into the division" as if Usyk was a prospect. Usyk even gave himself a 3/10.
I'm showing my biased excuse me ? Fury was sloppy and out of shape vs Wilder in their 3rd fight I think virtually everyone would agree on that. An exciting and dramatic fight in places ? Yes. But a good performance from Fury ? Absolutely not no. If I'm that biased why did I say "Usyk didn't look overly impressive vs Chisora" As for me saying Usyk growing into the division is biased how ? It was Usyk’s 2nd fight at Heavyweight. And ever since the Chisora fight he's weighed over 220+ pounds hence my comment is totally reasonable.
I mean it's all conjecture isn't it but, for what it's worth, I'm personally convinced that the best Usyk beats the best Fury.
Compared to Wilder 2 sure, but that bar is pretty high and he still won in impressive fashion despite facing adversity. It also isn't Usyks first time competing as a heavyweight technically if you include the WSB. It's part of the reason he adapted so quickly to heavyweight compared to other cruiserweights. Your bias imo is it reads as you downplaying Usyks lackluster performance, while for Fury you mention Wallin "and had another poor performance" with Wilder. It reads as though they're remotely comparable. Perhaps that wasn't your intent.
Kiwi no offence but i don't see how my original post was at all biased towards either fighter. Wallin was considered a nobody when he fought Fury and he cut Fury badly and Fury was in real danger of losing. I would say at the time it was considered shocking performance from Fury that he struggled so badly vs an unknown opponent. The positives for Fury are he showed good composure in dealing with a horrible cut, but in regards his performance i don't think you could call it a good one. And since Wallin hasn't really done much of note since and got poleaxed by Joshua not long ago, Fury struggling badly vs Wallin hasn't exactly aged well either with hindsight. In regards to Fury vs Wilder 3 again the positives are Fury are he showed heart recovering from the knockdown but again i don't you could call it a good performance. Fury was out of shape sloppy and had to rely on brawling with a limited opponent skill wise that Fury is much more skillful than to win in a sloppy brawl. Was it exciting for the fans ? yeah. Was it a good performance from Fury ? i don't think so other than in regards to showing heart but in regards to skill wise absolutely not. As for Usyk i've already said Usyk didn't look impressive vs Chisora but he also wasn't in the same type of danger as Fury was coming close to defeat vs Wallin, Wilder. Usyk lost a few of the early rounds but then took control of the fight after the 5th round and despite not looking as good as he normally does Usyk still got the job done fairly clearly in the end without much drama. Finally as for Usyk growing into the division yes Usyk has had the WSB fights but he didn't weigh as much as when he's fought professionally as a Heavyweight. As i said it's no coincidence Usyk has weighed 220+ pounds for every fight after the Chisora fight. Hence that's what i mean by growing into the division and finding a comfortable weight where he still has the speed/stamina but has enough physical strength to deal bigger guys. Put it this way could you see the Usyk of the Chisora fight being able to push Fury off in the clinches like he actually did in their fight where he weighed 223 pounds ?
Fair points, just a difference in opinion for the most part. As I said it was just how it read to me, so no harm no foul. Wallin was fortunate he wasn't DQ'd for trying to open the cut with his glove though, and despite the cut still lost a clear decision. As for Usyks weight I actually think coming in heavier is a detriment, and has had a noticable affect on his speed and movement. Added some extra oomph to his punches sure, but a dangerous trade off to make against a skilled operator.
