Has anyone tried landing uppercuts on Beterbiev?

Easier said than done. To land an uppercut you have to get into close range. Up close is where Beterbiev likes it cuz he likes to maul. Once you're inside he starts to club you.

 

Yarde landed a couple of uppercuts on Beterbiev but only one maybe two short left uppercuts, but the opening he gave Beterbiev in the eighth was when he threw a right uppercut and stayed there and got took apart.
Everyone has a plan until they feel his power, then the hesitation sets in, for me I think Yarde caused him the most trouble, but it was never in any doubt.
He can just roll you and get inside and unload at any moment.
But I will eat my hat if Bivol takes that approach, he needs to keep him away with his jab and throw hooks to the body as he moves out when Beterbiev gets close and pivot to his right and then out of range, the name of the game for Bivol is not to engage until Beterbiev is tiring or the pressure is off, short strategic bursts and then get out of range.
I am sticking with my pick of Bivol but iam not confident and I’m normally wrong with my predictions.
The power of Beterbiev is enough to make you overthink things and make mistakes, but the power is from the shoulders of Beterbiev he has a long stance and doesn’t really generate the power by whipping shots so you don’t see it coming most of the time.
Bivol has to be brave and not take backwards steps, he has to stand his ground and jab hook and out, but the worst thing he can do is jab and come forward with an overhand right, Beterbiev will be setting that trap all night. He can’t take the bait, stay disciplined and take as many of the early rounds as possible.

 

Yarde tried it repeatedly and he got predictable

Bivol needs to be a phantom and fight off the backfoot all night.

 

This is the real question, can he do it for 12 while limiting the damage that he takes. Nobody has been able to thus far.

 

Callum Smith managed to land a well placed uppercut but it did absolutely nothing to Beterbiev.

 

Yarde tried and that's why he was down

 

If anybody can, he can.

 

Artur is really smart, he does a very good job at being first, it's not an easy task to time him coming in, especially because most of the time that he does come in, it's behind a piston-like jab that is very precise, and he positions himself to land it well.

If you do want to uppercut him it's got to be long range soviet style uppercut, you'd think that after witnessing him batter 20 men into the ground, that people would realize the futility of trading, or even hanging around the pocket with this guy.

Actually don't even stand in his mid range, unless you're the one being first and you can make sure that Artur doesn't get to be last

 

He is susceptible to it, walking in straight with little head movement at times, Yarde spammed it and had success, but Beterbiev eventually wore him down, Callum Smith also landed some, but didn’t seem to bother Beterbiev.

 

Yarde landed some decent ones from memory and Beterbiev came through them. I think Bivol will have to get in, use his hand speed, land his straightforward flurries and get out. Attack may be his best form of defence. Don't think he can do it for 12 rounds though.

 

Do you think Bivol can land without getting hit? I wouldn't describe him as elusive, more a Pacquaio type - fast hands, quick counters, in and out. An offensive fighter, at heart, just without real power. I see Bivol being up on the cards but stopped in the second half of the fight.
