Yesterday killing time before the office, man I remember being such a fan of both and feeling so worried for Vargas going into the fight. What a fight that ended up being after that awful first round for Vargas. :boxing1

I felt so bummed afterwards, I was so invested in these fights as a kid. Anyone ever not see this fight? Try and find it with the HBO commentary if you haven’t watched it.

Great fight, DLH-Vargas too. Excellent lead-up, prime production & commentary, those were the good days.

Great fight. Tito was a wrecking machine in those days.

Vargas took an absolute beatdown. I remember it being violent. Got his ass kicked bad.

Vargas had the bravery, unlike many fighters these days, but should have waited a little longer to fight Tito.

In the end Vargas was nothing more than a drug cheat who got his ass kicked in every big fight.

Those were competitive losses to ATGs tho and even if u scored his Winky win as a draw or loss it was a pick'em vs. another elite fighter. Campas, Quartey, Castillejo, Marquez, Wright, has some names on the W column and dared to be great young coming up short, I can respect that.

One of the best fights of the 2000s. Great action and brutal finish. Trinidad was a machine and he took a lot out of Vargas who was never the same after.

If you rewatch David Reid vs Trinidad then you'll get heartbroken.
