Usyk Fury 2 Undercard Announced

Seriously, Fisher v Allen’s a bit of a farce, but generally quite good mcgrail v McCann looking forward too, and couldn’t get a better main event. It’s not as good as the others in Saudi, but better than most usual big fights were the undercards often shite

 

Mccann v McGrail is a really good match up I think, but the rest is a touch underwhelming. They must have spunked all the sportswashing money on that first one with all the heavyweights.

A card with Dave Allen as 4th main fight is not a good card.

Good point, Parker hasn’t boxed for ages after his 2 last best career wins. Maybe he’s fallen out of favour.

 

Happy for Dave Allen to get on a big card (not saying he deserves to be, but I’ve got a soft spot for him).

I just hope he actually throws a punch this time. But we already know his game plan; let Fisher throw the kitchen sink early and then if he’s still there late then try throw something back. But as shown against Price, Yoka, Clarke etc etc this approach doesn’t work. That said Fisher is no where near that category, but we all know that hard work and dedication can take you so far (which Fisher has in abundance having one of the best trainers in the UK and the benefit of a few year full time boxing rather than a proper job) but to get to top British/European/world level you need to have natural talent.

Think it’s a good test for Fisher as Allen is a ‘gatekeeper’ to British level. If Fisher comes through (which I suspect he will with Allen’s corner pulling him out around rounds 7/8) then I’d like to see him go on to H Fury or maybe Adelaye next.

 

I expect there will be another big mainly heavyweight card announced in the next few weeks.

Fisher should be fighting every 3 months just now, even if it's gradually more difficult knockovers at York Hall. He'd fill it on his own, it'd be great Friday Night viewing for the TV.

Agree he should be stepping up but if he posts another 2-3-round knockout they should just get him straight back out again. Moses Itauma will soon have had more fights in half the career.

 

For once Sam Jones was right - this is a "card full of main events". His point being that all the fights would be TV mains in the UK, whether on Channel 5 or a TNT/Sky Saturday night show.

What I can never understand is why Saudi is basically moving UK boxing out to its 'season' - most of these fighters are unheard of outside of the UK and barely even here for casuals. Even Wardley and Clarke could walk down most high streets in the UK un-noticed.

If you had trillions in the bank would you not scour the world for the best and not just milk a handful of UK promoters? It's never made any sense to me at all. The pre-Christmas heavyweight show was by far the best one, names from all over the globe.

 

I don't agree. Really hope that Matchroom has patience with Fisher and takes it easy in the matchmaking (while they find some soft opponents).

He is far from the finished article and must be allowed to develop further before they move him up to European level.

 

The same can be said about the Saudi card in December. Apart from the main event, none of the fights on the undercard should take place in Saudi.

 

Agree. The TV companies must be doing well from PPV because without that, they've basically lost half a dozen main events for their year-round cards. Sky would have put Wardley-Clarke 2 on as a PPV for sure. No doubt DAZN would have put Nicolson-Chapman on as a main or chief support.

Sky are probably the biggest losers on this card; they would have been in with a chance to show Beterbiev-Bivol via Top Rank and half the undercard has their 'stars'.
