running and backing up showing silky defence is all good and well but you need to throw some punches at some point and Bivol was way to inactive.

Look at Bivol's face. The aggression was indeed effective.

You know Bivol really looked gassed. He was working harder throughout, was using a lot of footwork. I think that really tired him out, meanwhile Artur was very cool calm and collected, not using as much energy. The old man looked the fresher fighter and had more energy in the late rounds, and that I think had a lot to do with his style. Bivol is much younger but works harder throughout the round. Now granted Bivol's work rate was one of his keys to victory against Canelo, but in this fight he wasn't rewarded by the judges in the same way.

I'm gonna say something that maybe some will be outraged by, and maybe some will agree. But Canelo despite gassing hard against Bivol, landed far harder and more impactful shots on Bivol than Beterbiev did. On the other hand, Bivol landed some great combos on Canelo and Artur. But Bivol punished Canelo more with sustaned action after Canelo gassed and Canelo didn't have the energy to fight back. Unlike Canelo did against Bivol, Artur paced him better and didn't punch himself out early in the fight like Canelo did. Artur was very steady throughout, he was getting outboxed in many rounds but he didn't get dominated, he kept rounds close enough that maybe he won with good blocking and a few flurries while coming forward, and the rounds Bivol won were more clear for Bivol than the rounds Beterbiev won which some of them I think could have been argued for Bivol. In the end, this was a thinking's man fight. It was a cautious, defensive oriented fight with a lot of hard to score rounds. While it didn't quite satisfy my craving for action and drama, I did enjoy it and would like to see it again.

If you think that Beterbiev won a round because he landed the better punches, then so be it. But don´t say that he won those rounds because Bivol ran.

    Fair enough.

    Then we're in agreement.

Bivol's movement made it very difficult to land much that was clean.

But Beterbiev did put a load of hurt on the younger man, more than Bivol was able to put on Beterbiev.

Depends what the judges liked. In this case, they favoured Beterbiev's work.

I gave you an example and it went over your head. The point is judging is not scored based on who lands more.

Bruises are an indicator of punches being effective. A lot of the times, they end up deciding fights.

    You sound very dumb.

If you are blocking a shot and still get hurt, should it count ?

I don’t think he was getting beat up at any point he had to be so switched on for so long that he had to take a break, or rounds off unfortunately it was in the championship and later rounds, taking the full round 10 off didn’t look good for him. But he was not getting hurt at any point, the most disappointing thing for me is that anyone regardless of who they thought won can possibly discredit that performance from bivol, you might not favour that style and that is fair enough but come on you should respect it, he deserves better.
