I had it 8-4 Beterbiev with a number of close rounds so I am close to where the two judges were.

I just didn't think that Nicole did enough to win rounds while mostly being in retreat.

If Beterbiev were younger I think he may have won by stoppage. His gas tank limited him.

It's hard to determine the hurt a fighter put on another sometimes. Bivol is just a guy who cares more about avoiding punches so he looks like he's "feeling" the punches more. But that isn't necessarily the case. But no sense in going back and forth about it as it's hardly an exact science.

If he is truly afraid of Beterbiev then he wouldn´t have fought Bivol either. A few years back I would have said: "Canelo fought Floyd, Lara, Trout, Golovkin and Jacobs; all of whom were supposed boogeymen for him." But it seems like he is just cashing out at this point.
****, someone like Yarde could be the undisputed champ at 175 and I don´t think Canelo would even entertain the idea.

Do you think this was a better version of Bivol than the version of him who fought Canelo? Anotherwords, despite being the much younger man than Beterbiev, do you think Bivol has slowed down slighty and maybe isn't in his prime anymore?

Even from the opening bell, I just didn't get the sense that Bivol had quite the energy or the insane work rate that he had against Canelo. He still has the skills and timing but in my view he seemed to have slowed down somewhat. And Artur despite being a lot older is more physically strong than Bivol, and for a multitude of reasons Artur did not seem gas or be worn down late to the extent Bivol did. Just a very steady performance from Artur.

I’m almost certain it will have, I can’t think of any but in the most corrupt sport in the world I think it must have happened

Agreed. He was mainly on the backfoot in the last two rounds because he was tired and Beterbiev got the better of him.

If Bivol won, then that means you had Bivol up at least 7 - 2 after the first 9 rounds. Really?

That’s my point If Bivol had better defence and they both had similar attack stats doesn’t that give him the win people used to have the same argument against Mayweather yet he never lost

Also this was similar to the Ward-Kovalev 1 fight but the more accurate boxer on the night got the win

Personally I think a 7-5 win to Bivol or draw was the fair decision

Well the comparisons are there to be had. Bivol's two biggest fights were against Canelo and Artur. It's impossible not to make comparisons between the two performances. And you cannot deny Canelo Berlanga was far more exciting than this, a fight that no one wanted to see compared to the fight that everyone wanted to see. :deal: That's boxing for ya.

Draw would have been more fitting but if i had to edge it i thought Bivol .. but wasn't a robbery.. high level fine margin stuff depending on what criteria u favour .. they need to run it back.. bit of a chess match , not a great fight but thoroughly engrossing

    Maybe because... Arthur isn't Canelo?
